Not really. A few experts on here used him as a scapegoat - similar to grant this season. Most can see that he’s a better footballer than most in the squad, and offers cover in numerous positions.

The same people kicking Carrington are the same ones who think Rutherford is fantastic.

With a few of our players, it’s like we’re playing blackjack and got 17. Can we genuinely do better?

I’m thinking of the likes of Jennings, Summerfield, carrington and maybe Rutherford too. The likes of Roberts, Holroyd, Deverdics can go. In an ideal world I’d keep Manny Smith but I’d rather his wages went towards a top striker as long as we retain Pearson.

I like that analogy. We keep getting 17 and failing. I think its time to have a go at trying to win the game !

32 year olds should not be fill ins. Unless he's on 1st/2nd year pro wages.

We need to improve the first 11 to get promoted, obviously. Which makes you wonder why some want a player who didn't even get in the squad for a few games.

Id prefer to see higher quality and fewer numbers and hope we don't get too many injuries. We played a few young lads in our final home game.....and won. Time to trust these young lads as squad fillers. Cheaper with potential to improve.

Carrington is not good enough for a promotion winning team, I said it 5 or 6 years ago and look we are still here.

Carra is and has been an excellent squad player filling in various roles.
The point being made is about him playing every week in the starting 11. We need better. For me the same argument exists for Ruthers.

With most of the others I would cut losses now and concentrate on the key players. Finally bring 1 or 2 loans in especially if BH rates a couple of the youngsters. Now is the to make the difference.

I would keep Carrington and Rutherford as squad players. Carrington can fit into right back, left back and midfield, so is key to have him on the bench, as he can fit in anywhere he is needed. Rutherford is another who gives you everything when he comes on. A good player to bring off the bench to run around and make things happen. We can all say who we want and who we dont want, but at the end of the day, the players have been playing Sam Ricketts is formation, whether they suit it or not, some even out of position, just to fit into the team. Let's see what formation Hughes wants to move forward with and let's see which players can fit into that formation and which ones cant. We finished in the playoffs, the players we have are good enough, they just need a different style of play, and maybe a goal scorer, but I think Oswell will be in double figures next season, that's if he gets a run in the team.
