Don't disagree with this but I think it was the game that he tried to put his stamp on with players who he then realised weren't up to it.
I think it might have told him more about the squad in the short term and opened his eyes to their limitations.
As for his suitability for the role, we'll have to see what his recruitment is like and how he intends to shape the team for next season.

FWIW I think Akil has improved but not at the rate I'd expect from a young player even at this level.
He appears to get into the right places in the box when needed but his overall game is lacking in awareness and skill. His close control is poor as is his distribution.
He's one of those 50/50 players for me. Half the time he's OK and the other half we'd be better with ten men.

Your reference to Akil Wright is spot on and that's why we need better if we hope to win promotion.

A nice way of saying he isn't a footballer.

Also Barrow was just one example of him jumping ship, most games after Christmas were the same.

Him and Rutherford barely touched the ball though. Too much blame laid on the manager and formations etc and its letting the players off far too lightly. It just highlighted weaknesses more that's all.

It was also blowing a b@stard gale during that barrow game; conditions we never dealt with.

I agree with Cardiff Red that Hughes got his tactics badly wrong for that game but wasn’t helped by Walker and Summerfield being injured. I have no worries about people making mistakes as long as you learn from it.

Farr too much gets blamed on formations and tactics. The players are to blame for 90% of it.

Agreed. Whilst we went 442 in that game, Hughes did change it...when we were 2 down.

There was a weird atmosphere at that match. Almost an acceptance of what was going to happen following the Orient defeat.

Yeah there was, it was a general feeling of 'we've bottled it again' hence the atmosphere was flat.

Like you say I don't mind him trying stuff like this (perhaps you could criticise the game he chose to try it) as long as he learns from it which I'm sure he did. In fact he probably learnt more from that one game than all the others combined.
