I would hope the 2 young lads are outside those core numbers.

“The two young boys have come up so I class them as part of the first team," said Hughes.

"I am looking at about 20, maybe 22 with Matty and Jack”

To be fair to him he talks some sense in that interview about needing characters leaders, because that's what our midfield lacks a leader, but I also feel with this division full of proverbial B***k S********s we need some physicality in the side but those players must have reasonable skill.

He's talking the talk like every manager before him, let's hope he can walk the walk to.

The right signings are crucial and when he talks about loans let's hope one of them is Wright as he simply is a passenger.

I'm not pleased about Grant & Rutherford being here, but I've a sneaky feeling Grant if he has a good pre-season could be a dark horse next season.

We have 9 already under contract
Plus 2 who have already signed (Rutherford and Tharme)
Plus the 2 new young lads (Sargeant and Thorn) - who Hughes classes as part of the first team
That’s 13 already, plus we’ve already offered contracts to 5.
So potentially looking at 2-4 new signings.
Not really a recipe for success. Looks like we’re just trying the same thing again. And again. And again.

If we challenge for the title again like last season I'll be pretty happy.

We'll sign average or crap midfielders and strikers for the seventh year running, because I don't think we have that extra bit of money to attract what you need.

We probably do have the money but it's wasted giving new contracts to players like Rutherford, that plus wasted money on manager failure pay offs by the Teflon coated board.

If we are even slightly serious about promotion then we need to push the boat out, but like you say Dixie it will be just like all the other seasons of bullshit to sell season tickets, then the imaginary top striker will sign for Solihull or the like and we will end up with a Massanka type signing.

It says about 20 or 22 including the new professionals so if all those offered deals sign, another 4 players will be needed. A right back, holding midfield player, wide forward and striker no doubt will probably be priorities, topped up with loans when necessary.

If players sign up and BH gets most of his other targets, we will have the strongest first team since the 98 point season and possibly more strength in depth.
