Haha calm down, only said that they could be options.
I just want to see better and if they are considered options then I dont see us going anywhere. Rather take a chance on an up and coming FB than one on his way down.

If were serious about promotion we have to set our sights higher IMO.

I agree to be fair, although I am happy enough with Jennings really....I think with better in front of him, and somebody decent in the middle of midfield he could link up really well and make a difference.

Then we need to focus on sorting out the Right back.

Just had a quick look at Stevenage fans forum couple of posts in there saying they were disappointed Johnny hunt had been released. He made 29 appearances for a top 10 league 2 side who were only 1 point off the play offs.

Akil wright and Johnny hunt would struggle to touch the ball more than 10 times between them every 90 minutes.

I'd rather Hunt than Jennings at left back. Obviously with a Toillit in front of him not Rutherford.

I'm. Not advocating we sign him, but I can't remember Hunt ever letting us down, so not sure why he gets so much abuse.

Please don’t....

He had a good left foot but was the most uninvolved player in our non-league days.

Look forward, not backwards.... next you will be hoping we nick in early and get Joe Clarke back in. Rumour has it Luton are interested.

If you read his post he did not advocate signing him just that he never let us down which I 100% agree with.

If you accept mid-table obscurity then yes I agree, he never let us down - Apart from the penalty miss at Hyde.

As I recall he was part of the side that got us to Wembley twice and the next season he was our top scorer with 12 goals having played in defence midfield and up front. For the record I do not accept mid table obscurity I just happened to have the opinion that Hunt was a versatile player and ,for me, a decent left back.

Fortunately he scored the winner from the penalty spot versus Grimsby in the FAT final. It's amazing how someone so allegedly " uninvolved " could end up our leading goal scorer in 2013-14. Not suggesting that we should sign him, that ship has sailed, but for goodness sake give the lad some credit.

Liam Nolan from Accrington... Wasn't he quite rated at Southport? Still young, big midfielder.

3 out of the 4 are positions we don't really need. (Taylor and Maguire are defenders - we've got enough defenders to last us a lifetime if Kennedy signs on, Jones is a goalkeeper which if Lainton signs on we've won't need outside a 3rd choice)

James Wallace I don't know about. He was part of the Tranmere squad that went up from this league in 2018, but he didn't command a first team place.
I mean, it wouldn't shock me if we signed him but I honestly think we can do better in midfield.

Ryan Taylor - is that the one who used to play for Newcastle and was injured for about 5 years? He must be getting on a bit now.

Edit. It is.

So he's 34, has a poor record with injuries but used to play in the Prem.
Welcome to Wrexham Ryan.

If lainton goes jones is in the same mould as in lainton had only been a backup keeper for a few years until we signed him

No I think many people just said he was shit based on what Vale fans said.

I've seen enough journeymen here to know that it very very rarely works out well.

PV shipped Lainton out because he kept getting injured but according to a ST holder otherwise he had been considered their first choice. He has proved homself now and will be in demand but hopefully we can convince him to stay, every successful team needs a top keeper and he could be our most important signing this summer.
