Surely players released from league 2 teams might be good enough for us?

Well we all know the standard in league 2 is only slightly better than the top half of the National league so imho if not good enough in league 2 they are not going to improve us, prefer players released from league one and above.

Wouldnt you then think 'hmm why is a league 1 player willing to drop out of the football league? obviously not good enough/injury prone/no drive/ambition' ? If you go with the '1 league above isnt good enough' then cant you say the same about 1 league up? There must be dozens of players signed on to Footbal League teams who have come from lower leagues and vice versa...

I take it that any player delivering the the goods, will not be on a retained list. Being a good football manager is all about taking promising or mediocre players and coaching them into good ones. Danny Rowe and Messi are not on such lists - I wonder why? Bobby Shinton’s career at Cambridge Utd was on the rocks until we took him on and made him one of the most effective players we ever had. Beno likewise.
A great time for a manager and his coaches to select THEIR players and bond them into a functioning successful team. Can Yozzer do it?

Well league one do have more skill and I prefer players with experience to kids at this level, so I'm talking players early to Mid 30s, players who have been there and done it, not kids of 22 like Wright being called raw instead of s***e but hey its down to opinions if you want national north signings like Ainge then be prepared to keep our non ambitious position of National league wannabes.

Oddly I dont remember me mentioning Ainge...Bobby Grant was a league one player, if you want to base an argument on one signing then that must mean you think he's good? I seem to remember a certain striker playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels in the 8th tier of football signing for Fleetwood, but hey, judging by what you say, any signings from the leagues below must be crap?

Think Vardy went there via Halifax but your point still holds!

Wasn’t Keates and the end of his league career and a steal by Saunders.
A find like that would be great. Leader and still with ability and could run the midfield.
