That’s my exact point. He was vaguely aware they had a team, but no idea they were challenging for league status. Reckons most in salford are born and bred United because....... that’s their local team.

Yes they have spent money on a few individuals,but a good portion of that squad are journeymen and probably pretty cheap. If we signed any of todays goal scorers,this forum would be going mental.

Touray- ex Chester and Rhyl

Dieseruvwe - ex Boston and Kiddy,Mansfield

Piergianni - ex Corby and Boston. Despite playing centre half has scored 11 goals,his goals since xmas (7) would make him our top scorer !

These aren't young lads. 24-27-25. Only a handful of games for Dieseruvwe in the football league. Other two haven't been near the FL.

Shows there is promotion capable players to be had with the right recruitment for not a lot of cash.

Hogan 20ish
Redmond 1
Whitehead less than 10
Pond ---- 100+

5 haven't played in FL.
3 have a handful
3 senior players. Albeit aged 34-33-33

This isn't a bunch of league one ballers that played today. We had more players with FL experience than that vs Eastleigh.

It's having a decent a manager.

Ricketts did fook all if we're honest, he inherited a great defensive unit, went on about how important it was to score more goals and signed Fondop. Alexander knows the leagues, did Ricketts? Does Hughes? I have my doubts.
