Let's hope the club follows Pearson's wishes and we finally get some continuity.

Be great if SP could lead us to promotion on the 50th anniversary of one of our promotions led by Eddie May.

Lincoln managed to do it with the Cowley brothers and have managed to do it despite Championship interest in them recently.

Not sure where the Cowley's hail from but perhaps affinity with a particular club goes a long way. Keates departed for Walsall where he came from - understandable and Ricketts, I felt never had a love for us - it was just a job to him. If Ricketts is Welsh then Twickenham must be in South Wales.

However I have had a nagging doubt that these departures including Barrow may be something to do with those above the manager - if those pulling the strings are hindering the manager perhaps they can see the writing is on the wall and can see a better future elsewhere - the other side of the coin may be the likes of the Cowley's - not necessarily brilliant (although who could argue they are not) but a Chairman and board giving them support at every step - now getting 10,000 gates and flying - could well do a Luton next season and go up again - on the other hand what goes on at Wrexham ? is the manager whoever he maybe supported or hindered to the extent he can't do his job ?

I would like to ascertain posters' responses to these questions? What is the real or indeed underlying influence of Carl Darlington at this club? Is he a stumbling block to future success?

Yes, "continuity behind the scenes" would necessitate keeping Darlington on!!

Darlington's contract runs to "Summer 2020" according to the WAFC Members' Newsletter received 11th May 2018.

"We are delighted to announce that First Team Coach Carl Darlington has penned a new deal that extends his contract until the summer of 2020.

Since his return in May 2017, Carl has played a significant role at the club in helping us introduce a modern and fresh approach to player development and monitoring throughout the year. This work includes the introduction of GPS monitoring, player loading and video analysis for development and opposition preparation.

Carl will continue to work on a part time basis combining his Wrexham AFC duties around his FAW Trust duties where he works as the Head of Coach Education leading the world class programme that has produced coaches working at some of the very best clubs and international teams around Europe.

Wrexham AFC Manager Sam Ricketts said “We are delighted that Carl has committed his future to Wrexham AFC as he is a major asset to the club and will be a key part of my management team. I am looking forward to working with him closely and continuing the work to improve the club on every level.”

Speaking to the Club website Carl said “As a Wrexham fan, I’m delighted to commit to a new deal and be part of the team. We made some great strides forward last season and preparation is already underway for the new season. Next season provides a new challenge and I’m really excited to be working with Sam to build a team we can all be proud of.”

Player development? In all honesty can anybody point to a player that has improved under his watch. Wright? Holroyd?Roberts?all gone backwards!
