I think if we took it seriously it’s a competition we could win. A few years ago I saw Inverness doing well in the SPL with Raven in the starting line up, Devine/Tremarco on the bench. I think we could have competed with that team, never mind the level below.

Considering we have no reserve team fixtures we could use this comp to keep players fit or regain match fitness after injury as well as a good playing experience for our youngsters

We might beat Bon Accord 1-0

This. Nothing stopping us just sending a team of fringe players and youngsters up to sunny Scotland or wherever we have to go and seeing how they do. I'd keep the key players as far away from this as possible, I'm sure Bryan Hughes won't lose any sleep if we go out of this in the first round.

I'm a bit concerned that there are people who are thinking about this with anything other than abject horror.

How about cost ?
Coach travel for a whole team and hangers on ?
Far flung Scotland or even Ireland - overnight stay - hotel accommodation ? the bill is mounting up, who pays for it ?

And if we're not arsed about going out in the first round why agree to enter it ?

If we enter and progress I suspect being a cup competition it will be treated the same way as the FA Trophy - our league fixtures could come second and suffer massive disruption - they would have to in order for the cup competition to progress smoothly and not hold up ties / rounds.

I suppose you need to look at Boreham Wood. Playoff finalists to 20th in the league this season. Of course, it’s not all down to the SCC but a contributing factor, no doubt. Sutton Utd, too.

I'm presuming this 'competition' is by invite only, if so, as a club that wants to get promoted I'm presuming that we will do the right thing and turn this down. Thanks, but no thanks.
