Now entering my 20th Season...

as a Wrexham fan.

In that time I have seen us:-

-Win Promotion Once
-Get Relegated three times
-Win LDV Trophy in Cardiff
-Get to Wembley three times (and lose twice)
-Stay in this ugly league for 11 years
-Almost go out of business before being taken over by the Fans
-See my favourite stand being left to rot
-Get called sheeps*****r more times than you can count

I guess what I'm trying to say is...thanks for the memories.

Supporting WFC has never been easy. We've had more bad days than good. But we are still here. COYR

33 years for me. The last 5 or 6 have been the worst.

Really hope better times are ahead.

30 years for me. I have to admire the new generation of fans for sticking with it, who have only known conference football. At least I had arsenal, Northampton and Birmingham in my first ten years.

So he missed the excitement of going a place in Div3 - I think on the last day of the season. Other wise the club would have played in the new Division 4.
What !!! and never saw football at the Racecourse without those ugly pylons in each corner. Haven't lived.

Nothing much has changed.

Watching since the late 60s with a gap in between working away when I could ony get to occasional games.

Been back for years now and try not to miss any home matches - non-league or not. :)

Double snap !

Just looked up my first match - suggest others do by logging onto Wrexham FC Programme archive - it's brilliant for bringing back memories and has cleared some things up that were puzzling me.

Monday 02 March 1970 in the 69 / 70 season when we finished runners up.
Remember watching the game from the Yale Stand upper section - don't think the stand had been in operation for long and was all shiny and new (well the seats were)

Wrexham 0 Lincoln City 0
Attendance 7,377

I do recall it was a night match but have treble checked and for some strange reason it was on a Monday night with a 7.15 pm kick off - do remember it was a bright sunny evening.

My first ever proper football match - I was bowled over by the crowd, the vivid green of the pitch but seeing a giant in a red shirt that looked twice as big as any other player and who must have come down the beanstalk to play for us even though his name wasn't Jack but the legendary one and only Eddie May.

Barrow were the opposition for my first ever game. FA Cup tie November 1962 and we won 5-2. Got Liverpool in the next round.

Smitten ever since. Never have even considered having any "second" team to support either.

38 and counting. My best moments came the other week when we played Eastlliegh - my youngest daughter got to our seats( she's 10 and has been about 5 times ) and said " god dad it's packed " and proceeded to get involved with almost every song/chant etc. The smile on my face - I honestly didn't really notice we lost....ok I did but the most important thing was I remember the grief we went through in the hard times and the effort and lengths that people went too. In those moments it all seemed worth it. We nearly got wiped from the map. Being able to see pleasure in those that weren't even born at the time...absolutely priceless.

Around 60 from me. Seen some highs and lows at home and abroad.
Still a relative youngster compared to some who still post on here.
Feel sorry for the youngsters who have only seen us down in the conference but hopefully their time to celebrate won't be far off.

Re: Now entering my 20th Season...

54 years since I stood in the Tech End with my dad for my first game.
He then took me to Wxm then bin dippers for alternate games but there was only 1 winner for a young welsh lad. At 12 years old a group of us got the train each game and at 14 we were having a beer in the Caernarvon Castle each game.

Lots of away travel memories over the years some of them as mad as you can get.
West Ham in 81 I think travelling there on the motorbike. Cardiff and the game got postponed and we were snowed in overnight. Forest NY Day and postponed until next day because of fog so a night on the piss. Now were reduced to Boreham Wood and 600 fans if were lucky.

Over 50 years for me too. My early teens in the 70’s spent in the Tech End were the happiest times - packed like sardines, great banter - and being, literally, swept off your feet when we scored!

1961 for me - we were 4 up against Darlington after 20 minutes and went on to win 5 nil. Hooked.
