Schools, colleges, visiting football supporters from away teams, hopefully we are promoted by the time it was built so bigger away followings came here.

If there is £4.4m funding available then just buy the ground and build the museum. That way it safeguards the club and provides the facility but as you say a white elephant.

Alternatively build it into a project to take WAFC forward and interact it with match day and possibly part time opening and at least provide the museum and a better future for the club.

OH selfish me for these thoughts but £4.4m well spent in the North.
As Standman has said- schools, colleges, visiting supporters etc.
Twickenham charge £12.50 entrance per adult and £7.50 for children to their rugby museum; they also have school trips. Twickenham Tour and Harlequins Hero Rugby Package
While The Racecourse might not be as glamorous as Twickenham (yet) it has more relevant history than any other stadium that I can think of. It just needs a bit of joined up thinking, rather than a token gesture to keep those up North quiet

To see what though? I can't see hordes of away fans coming to see Sam Vokes Jersey that he wore in a thrashing to Serbia away.

It certainly needs some thinking. Who will run it, what are they going to display, how will it operate. Seems to me it’s just a fanciful idea with no substance.

I just see a great opportunity to build something for WAFC and incorporate it.
But it’s all kind of selfish as I don’t even think there is any budget at the WAG.

4.4million is not enough money to buy the ground and build a museum.

As you say the museum is not likely to make money. Some museums are major tourist attractions, most are not.

Whilst it would be great and appropriate to have it housed in the stadium in a purpose built facility, there isn't the money for that. It isn't just getting a room and sticking some stuff in it, the County Museum is a much bettter option for a host of practical reasons.

There is already a plan to redevelop the Kop end. The Welsh Government is trying to purchase the derelict land behind the Kop to make that happen. If we could secure the football museum and the money budgeted for it in addition then I think that would be a good thing. It would make the Racecourse a destination outside of match days.

As regards the cost of running it. No museum makes money so it would require central funding to cover the running costs and upkeep - as it would wherever it is housed.

Agree - perhaps a cafe, welsh footy club shop and a few other attractions might help.......

Existing Museum is not the right place in my view - I'm sure if the decision had been made to place it in the south a competition would be held to design a modern lavish building to house the museum.

Yes and the club could look to re locate the club shop next to or incorporated into the museum to hopefully pick up some sales from the museum footfall

It has all sorts of difficulties and issues. If, for example, funding was secured for a new kop stand and the underneath used as a museum, firstly, the stand would be a whopper.

Secondly, who’d own the stand? Who’d own the insides if the FAW are operating it as a museum?

The way I see it, the stand would be owned by the Welsh Govt and the FAW and Wrexham AFC allowed to use it on match days. We’d effectively relinquish control of it.
