As an example lets say 6 months and therefore thats what we pay if we want to release him. Likewise if he just goes then the period is X and if he goes to another club then its Y which is then our compo. I am assuming the DK and SR situations were like this. I am on a 3 month notice which works both ways. However would I be stopped from leaving and sued if I got another job or simply said enough is enough I’m off. Doubtful. For a football manager though it would be more likely the situation could go legal

Re: National League Updates 2019/20 Season II
I think the above entries show that if a manager (National league, Div.2 and dare I say it Div.1) wants to go, they’ll go irrespective of contracts.
Championship and Premier are different only because the clubs can afford mega bucks in solicitors and the sums could be in £100,000’s as opposed to our level of thousands. Not right I agree. Foxy does raise a point though. Why didn’t Walsall or the slops target the managers at Salford, Solihull or Orient? Keates was targeted due to his connection with the club I suspect. Same with Ricketts. They saw him doing well here, saw the Wolves connection and went for him. At the time, were Solihull and Orient in such prime positions in the league? Can’t remember sorry. |

Re: National League Updates 2019/20 Season II
TR, I think we were just unlucky really. DK was just unfortunate timing and initially he said he wasnt interested. SR jumped on the gift horse that presented itself.
I would imagine the other 3 managers were considerably better paid and in the situations at Salford and Solihull then we know both have investment and board infrastructure that is geared up for a league place anyway. Edinburgh (god rest) I would imagine was happy located in London. Anyway BH has set his stall out with his retentions, has a few still contracted and appears to be concentrating on quality and limited loanees. Lets hope we dont have to concern our thoughts with contracts and compo for a while. Although could we hang on to a NL winning manager come 2021?
