I guess as a lot of people had their say and predictions post January then this is the counter argument. (including me and happy to be wrong).

The numbers are fantastic and represent loyalty and probably optimism with BH recruitment so far.

As Mr Bateman points out the pay on the gate numbers are going to depend on results and performances. No reason to think that this will start off any different to normal with decent home attendance first game.

Budget is 4200 with 2100 STs and 2100 pay on the gate.
After that we reduce the projected loss for the season and then we generate more budget.

How many do you think being honest would join WST if they didn't have to join to get the discount?

This before anyone misreads is not criticism just a question.

For me it’s simple commercial sense but you are right it’s not 100% guaranteed

Come on then. Who is it?
Feelings were running high in Jan. Losing 4 on the bounce really did cost us.
2 wins, consolidation of top spot, 2 quality improvements.
Just imagine

We should have tried to buy Tollitt.
With £200k burning a hole we could have tempted someone.
Macc were in disarray as were Gateshead and they had 1 or 2 players better than we did. Udoh at Telford or even Hulme from Alty would have been better than Stockton. Then buy Oswell who was injured.

Moyn. This isn’t negativity it’s a flavour of what might have been.
OK these players may not have come but there were better alternatives to the mess that occurred.

Thing is Pagl, if we had access to the crystal ball all our signings would turn out to be world beaters - in truth some come good and others don't.
Stockton was superb for Tranmere 2 seasons earlier but in truth no forward has thrived and many have not had much game time.

Not sure why Barrow didn't play Tollitt more than he did - perhaps there was a reason - perhaps he was simply not for sale ? Tranmere allowing us the loan to get him match fit and back playing again.

We were massively unfortunate - we lost Pyke just when he was starting to show good form, Walker was a massive blow and then of course Tollitt - things may have turned out different if we had kept those players.

Should we have splashed the cash and brought in reinforcements in the January window ? I have never felt its a good time of year to bring in permanent signings - loans yes for out of favour players at their respective clubs - it's never easy unless your prepared to spend big - something that we don't even do in the summer.

St sales are great, especially in the event that you may have a poor season as it's money in the bank.
Generally sales of around 1800 keep the club ticking over through the Summer and provide the base for the budget.
The greater the pay on the gate numbers are, the bigger the budget.

Red Light,

Maybe we were unfortunate later with Walker but the mistakes come from January IMO.

Obviously Barrow had an issue with Tollitt but for me he had come in scored and looked a half decent player. Surely worth a bid? If they turned it down OK.
Must have been a better option than buying someone with groin injury.

Stockton - yeh 2 years ago. Doesnt that tell you something?

We had the money it was well known so why not use it?
Ridiculous £50k bid for Rowe (as indicated by a poster in the know) wtf!

Kennedy was a good signing and 2 more quality players would have been huge.
Midfield wasn’t performing and a CF was sadly missing.

Yes I agree any signing is a risk but you mitigate this by looking at quality and not Fat, unfit reserves.

Thats how I see it anyway

Where has 4200 budget with 2100 ST's come from? Haven't seen it published anywhere. I do live a long way away though so could have missed it.
