Fylde to win it, playoffs:

Chesterfield
Solihull
Wrexham

Barnet
Harrogate

Relegation:

Aldershot

All educated guesswork at this stage of course!

What dealings have Chesterfield done to justify being such short odds after a crap season ?

Agree. They might be in admin by the end of the month as well. If they do start they haven’t recruited one player and can’t till any takeover is sorted

The obvious "unknown" at this stage being who will sign which players. We'd be falling over ourselves to take the 11/1 if we got a new winger, centre forward and defensive midfielder in the next day or so.

Re: Opening Odds 2019-20

No reason to think Solihull and Fylde wont do very well again - stability in management, good squads with proven goal scorers.

Sheridan has transformed Chesterfield - they are on the up and just signed Liam Manderville, from Doncaster Rovers to compliment Boden & Denton.

Notts County could end up doing a Stockport County of a few years back and going down again.

it will be interesting to see how the new boys on the block do with Jim Gannon's SCFC & Chorley who could be the new Harrogate Town and have performed well for a number of years.

It's very early days though - players can come and go over the coming weeks as Tranmere found out yesterday with Norwood departing to Ipswich - odds decrease for one club and rise for another.

But we have to put our own house in order and bring in some game changers instead of 'steady Eddie's - until we sort our goal scoring problems out not much will change.

Solihull and Fylde seem favourites to me and then its the chasing pack.

Going to be another interesting one.

Re: Opening Odds 2019-20

I think the odds at this time have some basis on the size of the support. For any club with an above average crowd there is likely to be more backing for that particular club in any betting market, therefore it pays the bookmakers to start these teams at shorter odds than would seem rational.

At last, commonsense. The bigger clubs' fans are putting their bets on regardless and shortening their teams' odds. It's too early to tell yet.

Betting certainly a mugs game. How can any expert predict our chances of success when we are 3 or 4 players short of a full squad? The same for the other teams who are not complete. Pure speculation.

With anybody from Wrexham , Solihull , Chesterfield , Barrow an Barnet challenging for play-offs

With a solid back 5, we’re going to be there or thereabouts.

The next signings will be vital.

3 more signings and we’ll be challenging for the league in my opinion. We’re so solid at the back - top defence and keeper.

I guess you could reverse the winning odds numbers.
Notts County become 66/1 and Maidenhead 8/1
Wrexham 40/1 and Chorley 11/1

Colomiers offered a better price :)

Yes I'll just hand over 20 quid to a complete stranger with no guarantee of ever seeing it again, let alone you paying me a grand in April.

They started favourites last season. They have had a similar type of ending to the season as Orient did the previous season.
