Default WST Membership

My AGM pack was posted out the other week - with my membership number, but my partner's name on it!

I queried this with secretary@wst.org.uk who passed it on to the membership sub group. Having heard nothing I tweeted @wstweets today.

Dan at the club shop picked this up and is going to sort it, it seems that it is all being taken over by club shop staff.

I'll just be glad to have it sorted in time to vote and attend the AGM, but seems strange that the WST membership sub group isn't dealing with this any more.

Dan will deal with it as it's an administrative error.
The membership sub group, I believe , is chasing lapsed memberships and trying to get new members signed up.
You are a Football Club member with automatic WST membership.

I signed up last Saturday. Emailed the standing order information, I heard nothing back. I emailed again to confirm they were in receipt of payment and to confirm membership...again I heard nothing back. I signed up to Twitter to message the WST regarding the issue and again, I got no reply.

I have now stopped the Standing Order.

Why stop the SO though.
The Membership process can be a bit slow but its not like a betting site and you need it immediately. Or do you?

We (WST members) are all Football club members aren't we, that's just rebranding.

It's surprising that someone else, albeit my partner, can be given my membership without my knowledge.

Might explain why I never get member's emails I suppose!

Well yes, I wanted it before this Thursday. Regarding stopping the Standing Order, well I just can.

Four working days. That’s a bit harsh. If you signed up for most memberships, credit cards etc. you would be very unlikely to hear back that quickly.

Thursday, was that for ST renewal?

I am not questioning your right to cancel but how many days have actually elapsed while you have been waiting?

If the committee could get this done via an App then it would make things so much easier for them but technology seems to have passed both boards by.
What we need is someone with IT skills on the board, ohh wait.......

This is probably one of my biggest bugbears with the WST (from the outside, looking in - I'm not a member) - it's a membership organisation whose sole source of income is its members. The process for joining/renewing should be absolutely polished by now, technology or not*. After all, how long has it existed?

There do seem to be continuous issues with memberships not being renewed/comms not going out etc. It's not quite that they've only got one job, but it's not far off.

* Do agree with pagl though - this stuff should be automated and shouldn't require too much manual processing
