Heartbroken still over this.

He was such a good friend and a top bloke, really caring, loved a joke and enjoyed life. A huge loss for everyone that knew him.

I didn't know Neil anything like as well as other colleagues in the DSA but enough to realise I had met a very special person. I would have loved to have had the time to know him better and call him 'friend'.
Rest in Peace Neil, an example of kindness to us all.

This was Neil's reply to me, after I'd inadvertently disclosed his real persona, on this site, back in Nov 2018:

Hello mate, hope you're well.
No apology necessary, genuinely not an issue. Loving this "agenda" accusation, something people bandy about when they can't fathom where you're coming from. For the life of me I don't get what people are failing to grasp here.
Anyway......
France is going ok, finding it a bit tough to get the business going with websites etc but I'll get there. Hoping to come back in the New Year for a couple of weeks so will do a car park/platform duty and no doubt see you the.
Take it easy mate,
Neil

Though flawed, like all of us, he was in essence the most decent bloke you could wish to meet.

Ive cried for Neil a number of times and I've just cried again.

Life is so cruel.

But what Neil did in his short lifetime will continue to inspire me for the rest of my life.

The last time I saw Neil I told him at his farmhouse in Droux that he was my safe happy place and if ever I found myself on my own I would love to move there and live out the dream with him.

Miss you mate.

Mr Kiwi,

We shall meet again soon and have a beer to celebrate his memory. Just as he'd like it.

I'd love that mate.

And even more than that beer, I'd love you to please tell me how I can pay a donation to this DSA fund in memory of Neil ?

Apart from Bootlegger there is no one I know who has in recent times brought more Love and kindness into broad church of Wrexham Football Club than Neil Dobie.

Neil told me his farmhouse in France used to be occupied by the French Resistance. When the Nazis were trying to reach Britain. So when I got home I remembered I had a 1976 replica French Resistance Action Man. I loved it but it only deserved to be on one man's shelf. I attached a London Reds Pin Badge to it as Neil and I had both been Wrexham Exiles in the smoke. We both managed to get out in the end.

Neil's sister Alison found me because her husband had found the Action Man and the post card when he was removing Neil's special trinkets.

I believe that Action Man is now safe in Wrexham. Hopefully he can get along to a match one day and have a view from up on the DSA platform. He does have a tiny gun though so you may need to get permission from the stewards to let him in.

I only met the man at away games, but having spent most of those games chatting to him, I came away on those occasions with the feeling that he was a one-in-a million bloke. Wonderful listening skills and a calm personality; non-judgmental, very empathetic and a man who’s humanity and humility was open for everyone to see. Loved to laugh and was happy to laugh at his own expense. I didn’t know him well and I’m not really someone who enjoys being in company, but he certainly left an impression on me on the few times I met him. A real tragedy that he died so young, as I think that the world would be be a far better place if there were more people like him around. Rest in Peace Neil.
