Manny's original knee injury was sorted some time back but while in hospital he contracted an infection which has caused the delay in him regaining fitness.

They should have just announced he'd signed his contract, I see no reason at all to keep it secret. Pretty stupid move when you consider their transparency claims.
It raises the question about what else they're keeping from fans but the WST fans will be keen for this not to be discussed I'd imagine.

In that case then, it seems as though it will be how he recovers from this infection rather than the actual injury.

Hopefully that is a more promising outlook and we can see Manny getting back to fitness sooner rather than later, or never.

another 3 months minimum seems serious to me.
Lets hope the faith we have shown with a new contract is reciprocated by his loyalty and lets hope he does recover.

Although his contract extension should have been announced at the time as others have said, this does at least sound like the more serious issues arising from the infection happened after it.

I’d think we need to know more about the seriousness of the infection before we can say if it’s likely to finish him if not. Obviously the likes of James Grey and his weird spider bite infection meant he was back in a couple of months. Jordan White’s infection took a fair few more months. Santi Carzola’s took years and almost led to him retirement. The fact that BH is talking “when” hopefully means a recover is likely and we’ll see him adding to our defence this season.
