SIGNED: Adam Barton (2 year deal)
 

Wrexham AFC are delighted to announce the signing of central midfielder Adam Barton on a two-year deal.

Barton, who is six foot three inches tall, previously spent time with Portsmouth and Coventry City in the EFL before heading north of the boarder to Scotland.

The Clitheroe-born middle-man, who is a product of Preston North End’s academy joined Partick Thistle during August 2016 and later won Scottish Premier League player of the month.

The 28-year-old went on to join Dundee United in July 2018, spending the latter stages of last season on loan at JD Welsh Premier League side Connah’s Quay after deciding to move closer to home.

Barton commented on the signing, by saying: “ I’m delighted to get the move all done and dusted. I’m really happy to be here at Wrexham.

“I like to get on the ball and start moves off, passing the ball, sitting-in in front of the back four. It’s up to me to get in the squad now and keep my place when the season starts.”

Talking about discussions with the manager he said: “I have been speaking to Bryan Hughes for a while about the move, he really wanted me to come and I really wanted to be here, so it’s great to get it done.

“Bryan said that sitting in midfield is where he sees me playing my football here, where my best position is, so that’s what I’ll do for the team if and when I get a chance.”

2 year deal seems mental for a player who seems problematic if you look at his career.

We needed a defensive midfielder though, I called it last week.

I don’t know him from Adam (heh) but all our other signings so far have looked bob on so hopefully they’ve seen good things on him.
