I hate to be the one with some maverick thinking but couldn't we maybe consider playing a right back at right back?

Akil Wright at wing back, that has to be the biggest RP windup of all time surely?
It just boggles the mind when you consider these people have supposed to have been watching him play for two seasons now.
You'd think the penny would have dropped by now with regards to playing players out of position after the many, many examples we've seen of this failing miserably.

If what you've seen from Wright at Wrexham has made you believe he can play wing back then I despair. He struggles with the basics of the midfield role most of the time, hence why he disappears in games, so putting him in an even more specialist role will just exploit him further. Suicidal springs to mind.
That's beside the point that Wright isn't good enough full stop. Barring an extraordinary turn around in form this coming season, by this time next year he won't be at the club regardless of what league we're in.

This squad still isn't good enough to take us up, we still need a midfielder and a RB minimum and those two players need to be top quality.
I think he could play as a wingback, so I apologise for that.

Apology accepted. :)

When you consider he can't even play the midfield role to the required standard, his natural position, where 3 managers here played him, its hard to see him being a success anywhere else on the pitch.

Shall we try him in goal and up front too?

I do apologize for having a discussion on a fans forum - what a ridiculous notion.

Why do people keep apologising to me? Just stop the silly ideas and remove the need. :)

I'm not trying to stifle debate and I'm not sure why you've decided to make that leap. Odd.
Pagl you are one of very few naysayers whose opinion I respect so can I ask you whether you really think it's fair to reach all those conclusions given we were playing stoke not Maidenhead and we are experimenting with a new formation?

it was Foxy posting not pagl .... and as we all know the ONLY hopefullness foxy ever has is that he hopes we fail.. as he is amongst the top 3 negative posters on here

Just read the Wright for wingback.... Aren't wingbacks also supposed to be able to tackle like a standard defensive rightback?

Wright from what I've seen couldn't tackle a can opener. He spends a lot of the time on his arse.

😉 P.S still no mention of last night's score.

I may be biased as I don't rate Akil as a midfielder either, but I think he lacks the awareness to play such an important role. He may be physically suited to the role but his lack of awareness of where others are on the pitch and inability to spot a pass mean its a no from me.

I think a valid debate that probably deserves it's own thread, is; 'Is Akil Wright even a footballer'?
