First time I have seen him and frankly I wasn't that impressed. Looked slow and cumbersome and some of his distribution was woeful. Definitely at fault for their first goal. Hope it was "first game at home nerves", but he needs to up his game a bit.

Other than that I thought there were some positive signs. Grant looks a new man, and you can tell Hooper will be a handful this season. Also liked the lad from Cardiff, got a bit of pace and can put in a good cross.

Seen enough now to say we look an improvement on last season and should do well.

Never a centre half, didn't win a header, looks weak as piss, showed some nice touches saturday at Telford in all fairness to him so may be better as a defensive midfielder.

I agree ! I never said that Wright was the answer at RB I merely suggested that it might be a better position than centre mid. In which case (like Carra) he could provide some cover. As I said two months ago - I personally believe that we should have signed a RB and LB who were hopefully good enough to overlap as wingers.

[QUOTE=Phils-an-alki;2274966]Don't think so. I'd have him back here, would add a bit of backbone in midfield that's severely lacking.[/QUOTE Oh Really ? seem to remember people on here thinking him a liability , spent as much time suspended as on the pitch , Short memories some people .

How does this differ from a right back “by trade”?

Harris achieved two promotions and was one of their best players towards the end of last year. Agree that he doesn't fit in here

The benefits of Barton should be seen by how advanced the full backs get and how influential the other two midfielders are going forward. His position could be vital it terms of allowing the 5 in front of him to attack and covering for the full backs by dropping in between Pearson and Lawlor. I hope he’s as good a passer as Walker.
