Redmond when fit should fill one of the gaps but we still need a real boss/ organiser in the middle.
Play 433 and Carra is fine at either left or right back. Would prefer a better LB than Jennings but need to direct the money at the RB position to get someone with pace and preferably two working feet.
Play 3 at the back and both full back positions require better footballers and we would need an extra centre back. (Manny when fit would do nicely)
Agree we need to control midfield. 343 with the wing backs we have now will really mean 5 at the back, hence the 2 in the midfield are overwhelmed. It also means they cannot link up with the front three, especially Hooper who looked really isolated last night. 343 is fine at the right level with top players in key positions, but not in the National League with our players. If Hughes persists with this he is heading for the same fate that befell him at Scarborough.

i think if we drop the current 3-4-3 and revert to the 4-3-3 then Barton will fill the organisation role. watching him off the ball last night he was directing a lot of the other players around. he has also stated that he feels this is his best role in a team. Barton Young and Redmond would be my first choice midfield, with Wright and Summerfield rotating with Young probably

Midfielder must be the priority if its one quality signing. It was our biggest weakness last season and IMHO keeping Summerfield was a mistake. We need someone who can control the flow of the game for us and at present we don't have that.

Just watched Hughes' press conference from last night. Its clear that 343 is his chosen system for now and not a pre season experiment. Also clear that he has got the latest and most expensive rose tinted spectacles.

Right Back
Striker (if Fondop moves on)
Not sure if he is actively chasing a midfielder or wide player.

Wright is ,for me, better built for RB , has the energy - has a right foot at least though would have to work on his crossing but Roberts was not a good supplier.

I like Young as a midfielder, but when he tries to tackle seriously, he tends to jump in with both feet and get booked or sent off. Right Back is not his forte.
