Sounds just like the Southern Train I'm travelling on right now. No toilets, no air con, no hope. At least you make it to the match on time and you have a seat!

Are they the light green, box shaped Southern Rail Coastway ones? Was on a course in Portsmouth recently and one of the other delegates got the train from/to Littlehampton every day and moaned about there being no toilets.

My own experience with prostate cancer seems to be ruled by 'sods law' - I can go hours without a drink, have a piss just before travel and still need another an hour later. On the other hand, I can have a couple of beers and be comfortable for hours. It's the unpredictability which drives the essential need to access a toilet. I have stopped 'risking' a coach journey for that reason although fellow posters are suggesting that Pats seem to have taken that on board.

I can supply a list of (un)suitable parking areas suitable for most trips to Clubs at least in the north west/midlands of our league!

Over the years, I have used trains for away games, but they can be expensive and useless for most mid week games. I usually take the car, but it’s tiring as only me munching the miles. The beauty of being an independent traveller, is being able to nip to the loo when I want. Ten years ago, I couldn’t have thought that this would be such a hot topic.

I feel the same pain.
Have you tried Oxybutinin. 1 tablet a day and helps to last longer and pee more.

Thanks pagl, haven't heard of that before and sounds like its certainly worth a try - how many would you have to take for trips to the likes of Dover/Torquay?!

I am also going to Boreham Wood on 6th August. Is there any chance that we can leave early enough to ensure we arrive at the ground in good time to meet up with friends and family. The late departure of some of the London trips leaves us sitting in traffic and arriving too close to kick off time to meet up with people.
When Pete from SHREDS was running the away travel the plan was always to arrive two hours before the match kicked off. This meant that you had time to relax and cover for any last minute hold ups.
These days we stop at Oxford services for 45 minutes going down when most people would prefer a 20 minute stop and then head on down.
Drivers do not need a 45 minute break on a 4 hour journey.
However, all in all the away coach travel is superb and my comments above are merely to try to avoid the stress of a late arrival.

Think there are rules governing the arrival of away supporters coaches - seem to recollect they are not supposed to arrive more than 90 minutes before kick off - Sporting Events control of alcohol - idea is to prevent the masses getting excessively bladdered on away soil and causing potential problems.

As you have highlighted, in the event of traffic delays / accidents etc sometimes this is too close to comfort - coach driver always has an option to head for the destination and park up a few miles away before making the final few miles closer to kick off - indeed I assume this happens with regularity up and down the country.
