In my sums, that's nearly 600 seats lost, and if we played a team that brought a load of fans they'd have to have the GUS.

I guess its a choice between placing it between the Yale and GUS and putting the away fans in the GUS? Unless there's somewhere better? I imagine they'll be a load of places included in the new stand, whenever that arrives. I wouldn't like to be the one making the decisions, looks like they can't win.
Putting it in the lower Yale as per the DSA's original plan for platform would have meant moving the refreshment stall, it could have gone exactly where the club's plan for a new platform is going now. No eyeline problems in the upper tier. Those plans were drwan up by the same architect that did the Colliers park revamp just completed. The DSA covered the cost of those drawings.

We have fans that will only come when it is their turn on the rota for platfoem one, as that is the only way they can guarantee being dry.
We've had fans come to the platform for their final game.

This is why we need places that are out of the worst of the weather.

Is that the platform for the away support?
I think the whole thing needs a fresh approach which could mean creating platforms in the GUS and Yale with a lift in the intermediate area and linking to the rooms under the Yale stand and through to Bamfords to be really inclusive.
It would be costly but might provide a longer term solution.solution.
Main problem for me would be placing a platform between Hostile supporters. Hardly likely to enhance the experience.

How many are on the rota? Do you have to be a member of the DSA to be on it?

The rota is open to anyone who wants/needs to be on it. At present it is around 30.

There are some wheelchair users who do prefer pitchside.

Platform users get 4 or 5 games a season now.

Isn't there already a refreshment booth in that corner? Looking at the layout, that corner is segregated for home fans with barriers between them and the away lower tier. So if the platform is built in the lower tier of the away end, that would mean it would be for away fans only, or am I reading it wrong?

When that plan was originally brought forward it was with a view to opening up that area for home fans as it was unused at the time. Subsequently it became a platform that would have been for away fans as that is what it would have best suited. At that time, when big games came around that section would have reverted to home fans usage as away fans were being given the GUS.
It's all by the bye now as the plan has long since been dropped.

Platform 2 construction is expected to start after the Stockport game.

It will be big enough for 4 or 5 users.

It is mainly for away fans, with home fans welcome to take up unused space.
