I am getting excited about the new season with all the new guys on board. I do feel that Jennings is no wing back. He is all left foot and when tries to beat his opponent (rare), the ball gets stuck around his feet, due to his reluctance to use his right foot. As a full back, he is competent, but if he is asked to beat players and then cross a ball, I feel that he will be found out.

sorry but for me Jennings is a sub standard LB at this level. He has some attributes going forward but I personally would have liked to have seen him replaced. Yes he is part of a solid defensive unit buy IMO that is more to do with the centre backs and Keeper than the full backs. He will of course get my full support.

I thought Jennings upped his game last season and have no issue with us retaining him. However, as others have observed - he is not a wing back.

I think people need to move on from the idea of. A player beating another player, how often do you see that happen in football. Nowadays, across the board? Jennings has been most effective when he's played with someone else who allows him to make runs beyond them. That's going to come down to the midfield players.

We could do better than Jennings but he's perfectly capable and someone we probably don't need to replace.

Yep, a bit like his brother did. At this level, he's more than decent.

It's a massive role for both wing backs.

The safety net is that should he venture far enough forward to do this - then there are four other defenders to fall back on - of course some might move forward in support of the attack - will be interesting to see if there is significant improvement in goal scoring this season - both from the forward line but significantly from the new additions - Barton looks a big lad and Chambers id apparently 6 '5 - you would like to think that this poses a better aerial threat and others in addition to Pearson get on the end of crosses and corners - so in a nutshell for me Jennings and Young are probably the two best options for supplying the crosses into the box.
I must have been asleep for the last few years as I don't recognise this.
1 in 10 reasonable crosses from 30 yards out is not my idea of a major attribute.
He's left footed only and can't or won't go past a player with the ball. On the rare occasions he gets in good positions within 15 yards of the goal line his delivery is poor. Rutherford contributes more.

After Barrow went Jennings improved vastly.

As long as the midfield 4 know their jobs and provide cover we can play 3-4-3.

The full backs can be stranded upfield whatever system is played it needs intelligent midfield players to read the game and provide cover.

I think that any professional footballer who can only kick the ball with any accuracy with one foot is pathetic.
Spend some time every day kicking a ball against a wall with your weaker foot and soon you will be able to hit the wall, then eventually, you will become stronger with that foot than your natural one.
They all have enough time on their hands to do it so there really is no excuse.

Agree with this. I called for him to be released. I half like him as he's an honest player who gives his all and hed an okay player at this level. But he must be at the high end of earners, feel like we could of got better for the money he's likely to be on
