RIP Bernard Evans
This is certainly a sad time for members of our Wrexham 'family',
Bernard was a big, hard player who knew where the net was and often found it. His career was blighted by injury but he never gave up. Another sad loss - RIP Bernard. |
Re: RIP Bernard Evans
Seem to remember that he worked at one of the pits around Wrexham and trained at night. A good hard player or am I mixing him up with someone else?
Just realised I'm thinking of George Evans. Getting old. |

Just realised I'm thinking of George Evans. Getting old.[/QUOTE] I saw Bernard play many times. I would describe as a number 9 target man. Good header of a ball. Scored many good goals. Always available and made defenders know that he was around. This type of player is now sadly missed. Thanks for your efforts Bernard. RIP. |

Think I may have mixed him up with George Evans. I'm getting old.

Re: RIP Bernard Evans
I think my first match included Bernard who scored a freak goal by standing on the edge of the penalty area when the goal kick hit him on the head and went in. Nearly knocked him out but he was happy.
I think it was 3-0 v chesterfield |
Re: RIP Bernard Evans
Another loss, RIP Bernard Evans.

Re: RIP Bernard Evans
So sad to hear this. Watched Bernard a lot in the late 50s, great header of the ball, a proper ball. He came to Wrexham when I started watching. Think it was Gren Jones on the right, Hewitt inside right, BE 9, Anderson inside left, now someone remind me number 11 was it Jones. Don't think he played against United in the 5-0 thrashing, but after 61 years I could be wrong. Mid field was Davies, Fox, Evans. Must stop reminising, sad loss, RIP Bernard and thanks for the memories.
