I've never been a huge Jennings fan but if he played like he did last season hes more than good enough. Centre mid is key for me and I'm not sure weve replaced Walker although Barton may prove me wrong. Redmond seems different to what we had last year. I feel Summerfield slows us down too much so I'd start with Young Barton and Redmond.

Not sure about BB but obviously not fully match fit due to missing a few games. Would rather BB start as RB with Carra replacing Jennings in a standard 433.
Summerfield played well for 70% of the game but is no leader, same with Young.
BH should look for a real boss in there if we are really serious about taking the title this year. We will do alright against the vast majority of the sides but could be found wanting against the other top 5. The missing link is the midfield general.
Can't really judge the forwards as Crewe limited the opportunities and we lacked that bit of creativity, If Jennings had looked up rather than go for goal when he got through, he'd have had an easy chip to Grant and we'd have won the game.
Harris impressed and I like the look of Chambers, he can handle himself and can play football.
Lawler looked short of match fitness and lost his man too often.
Hope we get the selection right for Barrow or it could be an embarrassing start to the season.[/Q

Jennings is no right wing back, he was awful in the second half

Yeah agree Jennings not good enough to play LWB, needs to be 433 and would love to see us play Pearson & chambers at CB!

So Bryan Hughes introduced another system yesterday , in his own words to “give the players a challenge”. 4231 followed on from his experiments with 433 and 343 . Can someone who knows him please take him to one side and have a word - he is not a top international manager and he hasn’t got the most intelligent and technical players in the world at his disposal.

He certainly is but I am not sure he is brilliantly suited to a back 3. He looked to have given away a penalty by diving in not long before their goal, although the ref didn't give it. We should start with 4 in defence with Carrington and Jennings the full backs.
If we experiment against Barrow we will be turned over.
