I remember the criticism of Hughes by people at the Barrow game last season as well as on here after the game and on Facebook. Criticism by me included, and what for? Playing a different formation that hadn't been used before. He has done things the correct way in trying formations preseason.

That Barrow match last season was a bad combination of factors against us.

People forget that Barrow were in the midst of a purple patch of form at the time.

But to me the game was given away down our right flank - after a long lay off Roberts returned after injury and was massively out of sorts - infront of him was the ineffective McGlashan who defensively was extremely poor.

Conceeding early goals compounded the problem - two of which came down their left flank against Roberts / McGlashan.

In all probability our worst 45 minute display at home all season - not sure it was tactics but rather underpar players pitted against in form fluent ones at the top of their game.

Getting old but this was exactly how I remembered it. We were caught cold and never recovered.

We also started with a 4 man midfield, there were definite changes to the shape that day. Agree about the issues down the right side.
