It was originally planned as a home fans platform and would bring back into use that area of the ground. It was the idea of a WST Board member and was planned with consultation with DSA, WST, WAFC, architect, structural engineer and both club and WCBC safety officer.

AT THAT TIME the club were giving over the Tech End when larger away followings came to town, meaning that when this happened then the platform would be in the home end for those games.

IF that plan for platform 2 had been built the lower Yale food kiosk would have been converted to an accessible toilet which would have meant the construction of a small away fans kiosk, which could easily have been done in the unused corner where the new platform is now to go.

The lower Yale in the case of that plan being done could have been suitable to be used as either a home or away end.

The switching of away fans into the Tech End was never anything to do with the platform, nor would it be now.
A couple of points. There is already a new existing food kiosk in the corner where the new platform appears to be heading. I disagree with your comment that the switching of the away fans back to the Tech End would not be the result of building a platform in the original proposed area in the lower Yale, as the refreshment kiosk would be in the area that is part of the home section, which is barriered off from the lower Yale, so couldn't be used by that section, resulting in the loss of all the other seats.
Also, what is obvious yet continually overlooked in the race to condemn the club, is that this won't be the last platform? I expect there will be further ones included as the ground gets redeveloped, I'm sure the WST are not the evil, teeth kicking antifans they are portrayed as.

The club have no plans for further platforms as I asked them that very question.

I find it hard for anyone to think that a kiosk for away fans could be built in that corner in such a way as to make it for fans in the lower Yale only.

From the viewing I did shortly after the WST meeting and looking at the options and constraints to platform construction based on the Regulations and guidelines I can see only 2 alternatives to the proposal.

1 - Extend the existing platform. - This would minimise the loss of seats for 6 additional users but would require alterations to the access to the stand and platform and would probably require the club to install a new, reliable lift.
The access to the stand from the 1864 suite would then be through the area of box 1 and is slightly restricted. Other minor alterations would also be required.

2. - Construct a platform at the rear of the Lower section of the GUS, Mold road end. Would lose 26 seats for 10 Wheelchair spaces and would require a lift for access. Restricted viewing for another 3 or 4 seats possibly. Access to existing facilities in the MRS would be straightforward.

Not quite sure how we've got to the current situation. It all seems to be a highly unnecessary own goal by the Club.

In a perfect world, where would Nathan (and other disabled fans) like to watch the game from?

I'm guessing that in a "perfect world" everyone would have a choice, without limitations, disability or segregation.

'2.',has been for some time now the strongest suggestion of the DSA. It has been mooted on more than one occasion to the Trust/Club,and their only discernible objection has been the removal of seats. This point,we have argued,is rather moot,as the likely-hood of us needing every existing seat in the Tech End on any kind of a regular basis would probably be a best, some way off, requiring us challenging at the top end of League 1 at the very least, I would say.

Further more,it would make sense long term,as in the event of a new Kop end arriving, the Tech End would almost certainly revert back to its traditional use as the designated away end,and as such would very much require a fully inclusive platform for away fans.
