Default Ian Edwards goal v Derby

I have just been showing some of my younger work colleagues Ian Edwards wonder goal against Derby. If I knew how to do it I would post the link, but if you search on You Tube it's worth taking a look. I remember it as though it was yesterday.

I remember it well - a fantastic very memorable goal.

Fozastuta - my ability to load youtube clips no longer seems available - not sure if others are experiencing the same problem ?

Ian Edwards was a Mold Alun lad - remember he was a couple of years older than me - on Saturday mornings we would often take several teams to play a series of away matches at another fairly local high school aboard a hired school coach - seem to recall we went to Kings School, Chester and he was playing for the senior team whilst I was playing for my year - rumour had it that Ian was put on his path to glory by one of the school PE teachers at the time, a certain Mr Whitley who ran Mold Alun boys sport along with Mr Breeze - never knew their first names as they were never mentioned (but think it was Chris Whitley) who had connections with Chester City when they played at their old Sealand Road ground.

Certainly happy memories - oh and we always smashed the posh kids from Kings - beating them scores like 8 - 2 and even getting fed by them as part of the trip. They were very courteous, gracious and sportsman like, but dreadful on a football pitch.

Where's Ian Edwards now ? last I heard he had a hotel or similar down the Lleyn Peninsula mixed in with golf.

I must show that to my lads. I was sitting in the stand on the half way line. It’s still a brilliant goal, all these years later.

Happy days. I was at King's in the 1970s and we did have a few successes along the way to be fair - in the posh kids' showdowns with Merchant Taylors and Manchester GS anyway. I do remember one King's team winning 18-0 believe it or not.
