Boreham Wood Highlights
Highlights on their Youtube Channel.
How have we not scored 5 or 6 is beyond me. Anybody who went say if the 2nd Wood goal was deflected? Looked a poor shot to let in if not Posted via mobile theme |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
They could have scored quite a few as well.

Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
Another 2 goals go in where Dibble is flat footed, that’s 3 for the season now where he has watched the ball go by.

I really like Dibble, fantastic no2 at this level. But Lainton is the better goalkeeper. The second goal was a pretty meek shot. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
Having watched the highlights I'm convinced Lainton would have saved the second, and like Onelove said he is very flat footed.
|
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
It’s refreshing seeing us play some good stuff going forward, and actually create chances.
Any news on when BB, Barton and Lainton are available? All 3 will add something different to the team. Posted via mobile theme |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
What the hell is that second goal they scored. Dribbled in.
Not fair to put it all on Dibble, because we should have put them to bed there, but he should have done better. No doubt about that. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
Murtagh has been a very good player at this level for many seasons. Probably does not want to come north. Bit harsh on Dibble some of the comments. No chance with first and second may have taken a big deflection. Made some decent saves before that. Going into the 90th minute and Rutherford puts in a decent cross but I would have liked to see him hold the ball and keep it near the corner flag.
|
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
I said weeks ago dibble will cost us points.... Boreham Wood look in a similar state as last season - short of a decent striker.

Dibble made some routine saves, that’s 3 goals he has conceded this season so far where has had been flat footed and made no effort. His footwork is poor and he’s looking more and more like Coughlin everytime I see him. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
A really good, entertaining game.
We won't lose many games playing like that...but it will be a roller-coaster ride if we need to score more than 2 goals to win a game. Great for the neutrals... Posted via mobile theme |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
Dibble made at least 1 top drawer save. Their second is a scuffed mis hit so I dont see how you can blame the keeper for that one.

Top draw..... top bantz! :7::7: We’re likely to see more scuffed mid hits trickling into the net until Lainton returns. Had Boreham wood had a half decent striker, we’d of lost that game. |

Havent watched all the highlights so may not have been captured. |

The only saves he makes are routine and close to where he’s positioned himself. Anything that isn’t within arms length goes in. |

Yeah that save was on there, hardly top drawer as you’d expect your youth keeper to save that at a good height. The 3 goals that we have concede already this season Dibble has planted his feet through poor footwork and doesn’t have any agility to compensate, there’s not been many times where we have had to question Lainton when goals have gone in. |

Id be more asking why the defence gave him the freedom of the pitch to get that shot in. |

Maybe correct about Dibble but there is no point having a go at the lad, he's the second choice 'Keeper. He has made a few saves that have kept us in the two games this season, and he has let in a couple of goals that have put us on the back foot that a 'better' Keeper may have saved. Short of spending money on a top draw back-up for Lainton, maybe at the expense of one of our attacking players, I don't know what more could be done....It's just bad luck. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
I know they are only brief highlights but it seems a draw was a fair result.
|
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
It probably was. Haven't posted since the match or gone into the player ratings stuff (though possibly we should have used more than one sub and possibly Ruthers wasn't the one sub to bring on and that might be inexperience on Yosser's part) as was so gutted by how the game ended up.
Pre game we might have taken a point and taking the game as a whole, both sides had 5 or 6 genuinely decent chances, so a draw was fair. I agree if you were a neutral, which I'm not and we're not it was a very good game to watch. It's just the way it ended that means we were all angry/upset at the time and why we think it's 2 points lost. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
I'm presuming their second goal took a deflection.
Lovely finish by Grant. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
That’s a fantastic run, touch, shape and finish from Grant

Given Lainton’s appalling injury record I’m surprised at both giving him a 2 year deal and not having a good backup whose comfortable at this level. |

Rather than looking to blame Dibble have a look at the marking in the box for BOTH goals conceded - it simply does not exist - red shirts are in there but not picking up a man - given far too much freedom and space to get shots away. Especially when we should have been going all out to play the game out, break it up, slow it down, disrupt momentum with barely 10 minutes to go. |

The marking in the Barrow game from set pieces was non-existent. The newly adopted playing style will result in more goals at both ends! Some of our senior defensive players may be found wanting if we continue to leave them more exposed. |

Carra, Jennings, Summers, Young and Redmond all need to take more responsibility at set pieces. Goal side of your man isn’t difficult. ‘N |

He missed one (yes one) league game last season - think it was Gateshead away. Dibble is a good number 2 at this level, its just bad luck Lainton got this injury early in the season. |

Look at his injury record previous to joining ourselves. He’s spent more time on the treatment table than on the pitch. |

Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
More rubbish from Percy I'm afraid. Agree with Red Light that if anything it was the defence not Dibble to blame for the goals. As for Lainton, his injury record before joining us was poor but after a fantastic season and fearing we would lose him to Slops no one (not even Percy) criticised him re-signing or the length of the contract. It's bad luck pure and simple but of course we know about the 20-20 hindsight many posters are proud of.
As for Dibble, I think Lainton is much better but hes perfectly capable at this level and has never let us down when he has played and that includes Tuesday. I doubt many 5th tier clubs have better back up. Coddington was Percy's example and granted he did well for us but then had a nightmare spell at Guiseley and couldn't get a look in even on the bench at Northampton so how good is he now. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
When conceding 2 late goals it's down to defenders not doing their job not just the keeper.

Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
Pearson seemed to leave his man and challenge the man Lawlor should have been marking. Comes down to organisation, simple as.
It’s an absolute fluke mind, shit shot that made its way through all those players. Grant’s quick finish was brilliant. That’s his higher class football brain in operation. Others would be dilly dallying and end up with a blocked shot there. |
Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
Happy with the link up play between Hooper , Grant and Harris. Barton should help out the defence once he’s in midfield.

Re: Boreham Wood Highlights
I"ve watched that second goal several times, and it seems to me that Dibble was about to dive one way but was wrong-footed by either a deflection or he was unsighted.
His value is immeasurable (considering how many penalties he has saved) and does not deserve the negative stuff arrowed at him on this thread. |
