Positives:
Harris. On a different level to the rest of the team and scored a great goal with a great pass from Rutherford to put him in. If only Rutherford did that more often... hey ho.
Anyway Harris MOM by miles and miles.

Young was great and his work rate is astonishing. He was everywhere. Summerfield got MOM? Really? Whoever picked him can't have been watching the game or they are completely clueless because Young and Harris were streets ahead of everyone.

Barnum-Bobb. Though he did well. Needs a few games but I'm sure he'll be a good signing although I thought it was harsh on Carrington that he was dropped.

Hooper. I know he faded in and out of the game but at least he's a proper striker and will get goals. Can forgive him a few quiet games although was still a threat especially first half.

Negatives:
Defence. BH needs to have words as they look all over the place at times and wide open. Better teams will exploit this. We rode our luck against Barrow where we could have easily been 3 nil down by HT and out of the game. Pearson and Lawlor are getting exposed and lack of pace (have they got slower over the summer??) seems to more glaring this season. Hope Chambers can take his chance as there is definitely room for improvement there. Didn't think it was a pen mind, their no 11 was going down looking for fouls all game and the ref (who also had a bit of a stinker and lacked bollocks) fell for it most of the time.

McIntosh. Was he picked from the crowd to get a game? Looked like it.
Light years off the pace. Had no idea where or when to run, slower than Beavon and at one point I forgot he was playing.
The contrast between him and Harris was startling.
One is destined for bigger things the other will be back in the pub league he came from before long.
Not sure who scouted him but fck me he must have had a worldy that day. Atrocious. Shouldn't be anywhere the squad until he can at least get match fit. Early days but he showed all the hallmarks of a pub player out of his depth.

It was far from perfect but that was a very important win against a physical and difficult team. It was also very enjoyable to watch... well, most of the time.

Thought Young was excellent in midfield. Summerfield worked hard but was let down by poor distribution, especially from a dead-ball.

Our CBs look slow, hence why Lawlor got caught and was deservedly shown a Red Card.

Hooper and Redmond worked well but the real difference was the partnership between Barnum-Bobb and Harris on the right. Harris's movement and effort is excellent. He never gave up and took full advantage of Rutherford's excellent through ball after the ref played advantage.

McIntosh was off the pace, but let's not forget that was his first start. He deserves more time and a bit of patience to see if he picks up.

The first 30 minutes were as good as anything we have seen in over 10 years: quick ball on the ground with lots of clever movement. It is a shame no one got onto the end of the numerous crosses that whizzed across the box, but that will come with time and confidence.

We outplayed the League leaders, even when we went down to 10. I don't expect Halifax to be top at the end, but they are a decent team at this level.

Looking forward to next Sunday, I would look at playing Barton instead of McIntosh to better protect our CBs, and push Redmond up front with JJ and Harris.

There is hope!

The 1 handed save first half where he was full stretch to his left after being wrong footed due to a big deflection vertically wasn’t simple ! Otherwise I agree with you 😊! Too much he looks a very good keeper who is only going to get better if he plays a run of games.

Agreed. We need to show patience with Redmond.
Although early reports from those who've watched Barton pre season are woeful.

Good post. It will be interesting to see who he actually plays alongside Pearson on Sunday. A lot of people at the game last night assuming it will be Chambers but lets not forget he didn't make the squad last night. I can see the back 4 that finished last night being the back 4 that starts on Sunday.

If Jennings starts at CB on Sunday when we have Chambers and Barton on the bench, then questions need to be asked.
