Player Ratings v Halifax
Dibble 8 kept us in it
BB 6 started brightly still have some concerns about his defensive abilities. Jennings 7 gutsey performance. Lawlor. 7. Steady ,but can be exposed if B.B. pushes up. Pearson 8 carries a lot of responsibility and puts in a shift Summerfield 7 grafted all night and took a few knocks.Crossing poor. Young 8 Very good performance best to date. Redmond 7 skilful Player but doesn’t look fully fit Harris 9 a class above most around him. Hooper 7 quiet game for him McIntosh 5 looked well off the pace.Would play Oswell before him. Carrington 6 solid and reliable Rutherford 7 made a difference and great assist Oswell not on long enough to assess. |
Re: Player Ratings v Halifax
Mostly agree but wouldn't even give McIntosh a 5, he did nothing all game and just looked lost. At the most I'd say 3 just for sheer effort but otherwise ineffectual with no signs of promise.

Dont think you can underestimate his contribution. The guy is far better than the credit he is given. Solid, calm and sensible distribution. |
Re: Player Ratings v Halifax
Would probably downgrade Summerfield and McIntosh. Not sure how Summerfield managed MoTM but his passes were dreadful. Harris was unplayable at times, really quality, just hope we can keep him for the season.

I concur with the aforementioned ratings.

Re: Player Ratings v Halifax
Dibble (6) Some good saves- couple of nervy moments when collecting the ball at the edge of the box. Spilled one which nearly gave them a goal
BB (6) Some great work down the right with Harris but suspect defensively. Not convinced he's a big step-up from Carra Pearson (7) Standard but silly booking following a rash tackle when dragged out of position Lawlor (6) Not bad, right decision to bring the man down for the red- different story 1-0 down with 20 to play. Jennings (7) Some wicked balls in to the area- played well on the whole Young (8) Everywhere. Complete midfield display Summerfield (6) Average Redmond (6) People rave about this guy, not seen anything myself yet. Harris (8.5) What a player. Well taken goal Hooper (6) Some decent moments Mcintosh (4) Poor and that's being kind. |
Re: Player Ratings v Halifax
Dibble - 8 - Some good saves but needs to command his area more
BB - 7 - Solid if unspectacular Jennings - 7 - Same as BB Lawlor - 6 - In this team the way we now play not convinced him and Pearson can play together. Did ok and pen was harsh. Pearson - 6 - Seems to have lost something. Hasn't been great so far this season. Summerfield - 7 - Did ok in the main but was shown up by Young. Young - 9 - Just for his work rate. Incredible. Redmond - 6 - Shows flashes but needs to get more involved, definitely a player in there, just needs more game time. Harris - 9+ - Can't give a 10 can you? But a class above everyone else on the pitch. Pure pace, skill and made some great runs that aren't always spotted. Great finish for the goal. Hooper - 7 - Had a quiet game by his standards but still looks a threat and must be a nightmare to defend against. McIntosh - 2 - for putting his kit on correctly and managing to stay on as long as he did. Dreadful and anonymous. Carrington - 7 - Solid as ever. Rutherford - 8 - Made an impact. Finally! Got an assist, finally! Being serious great through ball for Harris. Oswell - N/A wasn't on for long enough |
Re: Player Ratings v Halifax
Star man was Harris - head and shoulders above the rest - superb attacking threat and good running - will benefit from JBB behind him.
Dibble - assured handling and never put a foot wrong all night. Pearson - is going to talk himself into silly avoidable yellow cards - twice confrontational with opposition strikers who were grounded. Lawlor - the weakest link - weak and too easily pushed off the ball with limited distribution - not good enough at Salford and not good enough for us - hopefully Chambers will now come into the team and retain the other CB place - I would have happily swapped Lawlor for the Halifax defender Brown who looked a proper centre back. What was poor ? McIntosh up front was out of it - poor positional sense and a major let down. In addition there was another no show by Redmond - anonymous in midfield. Young was the pick of the midfield - first 15 minutes we played some magical stuff - fast, slick passing on the floor that was the only way to get behind the Halifax massive back line and monsterously tall keeper. Game changer He has his critics - but Rutherford's industry and pin point through ball for the goal were just what we needed - Bryan Hughes made good use of the subs last night - good game management with the clock ticking down. |
