A few comments from Slops forum -

'First time I've seen Walker but he certainly doesn't look ready for League One football, he didn't look sharp and didn't seem to get about'

'Walker needs to go & go now. It’s never going to happen for him.. so poor.'

'Not sure what sort of midfielder he is, didn’t tackle and couldn’t pass. Only credit that he didn’t disappear and kept going.'

'Couple of flashes to suggest there is a player there but some really poor mistakes.'

Well ,we'll have him Sam ,if hes not ready for your lot !!

He’s one of the best players we’ve had for many a year, the game was too easy for him and his only downside was some complacency at times because of how easy it was for him to dictate things at this level. Put him in this side now and we’d have that midfield controller we lack.

I would like to think we could get him back on loan come January.

Barton is a more than adequate replacement for Walker, not saying I wouldn't have him back but....... in reality it's not going to happen.

This, this and this again. Exactly what we are missing in midfield

Walker likes to ping his medium/long distance passes so if he gets a few wrong I can see why people would say he can’t pass. He has the ability to make the game look equally difficult or easy.

He should’ve signed with us for a season or two and earned his league 1 move however, when the opportunity presents itself, you’d be foolish not to take it.

We don't know that about Barton yet as we haven't seen him play.
Results might change the Walker situation, unlikely to be nearer Xmas though.
