Am I the only one who rates Summerfield. I really don't get the hate for him. He was one of if not our best player last season before he got injured. Him and Young work well together. I'm not denying we could do with a Lee Fowler type but getting a player with that talent is rare down here.
What’s his role exactly? He runs around a lot playing simple balls but I’venever seen him play a through ball. Hooper makes clever runs constantly during a game but Summerfield cannot find the pass, he doesn’t see it and if he does he can’t pull it off. We need much better if we want to go up. Lee Fowler, Adam Chapman, Gutteridge,Lawless quality is what we need.

Its also his slowing of the game down that annoys the hell out of me. For the first time we have pace and power upfront making decent runs and he will generally only play side or backwards balls.

I think in Walker and Tollitts cases its the classic the grass isn't greener on the other side.

I'd snap Shrewsbury's hand off to get him back.Quality at this level
We didnt exactly collapse we finished 4th, but losing Walker and Summerfield possibly cost those few points needed to win the league. Fair play Young & Wright stepped their game up but in my opinion the other 2 are the most influential.

Just because we have pace up top, we don't need to go route one, we need to play the ball through midfield and Summerfield does that and,Young compliments that, when on top of his game, with that bit extra ability to carry the ball forward.

I'm not sure I see what Notts and Dixie are saying about Summerfield. I really don't get it. What do you expect exactly?
I think you both have extremely short memories and expect him to be a different player to what he actually is.
He isn't Fowler so expecting him to be that kind of player is unfair. He does play passes when they are on, I seem to remember him threading a ball through against Barrow.

We could probably get better, although you could argue that for every player, however being realistic I think he's near about as good as it gets.

Be careful what you wish for lads!

Completely agree.

2.18 one of the best forward passes you'll see this season. From Summerfield.

I like Summerfield, he's as tidy a midfield player you'll get down here. I think with the addition of Redmond the expectation for him to be the creative player has shifted, which is good because he isn't that type of player.
My main gripe, and this was quite evident against Halifax, is that he always closes his body up with his first touch, he very rarely if ever takes it on the turn and drive forward even if there's nobody within 10m of him.
