It doesn’t really. The best teams are built upon a solid defence first and then some. We had a solid defence and Hughes needed to more or less keep that and add things offensively. I fear that he may have overly weakened the former and not added enough offensively. That is, we are worse.

Guessing you didn't go Sunday then, bloody awful defensively. Would like to see Carrington back at right back on Saturday.

We’d have lost without him though. We need to accept that if we’re going to be more attacking then we won’t be as solid at the back.

Granted he had a couple of dodgy moments but none of them led to us conceding and our goal came directly from his attacking play.

It’s a real dilemma. If we had Messi at left back, there would be a cohort of fans who would say “he doesn’t tackle like Joey!” I admit to not seeing Barnum-Bob play. It seems that he is good at attacking but needs work defending. After watching so many painful years in this division, I will settle for a more cavalier style of play - as long as we win most games!

Yes, but is it crucial to be such a good tackler? If Messi helped score two goals, no one would be too critical if he missed the odd tackle.

Messi is too small to make it in the national league- probably find his level in the Welsh Prem

He may have had a bit of a mare against Notts (STILL set up a goal) but against Halifax he did very little wrong and was part of a combination with Harris that took them apart a few times in the first half. He looks promising, just needs to get fit and up to speed and I think he'll be a good player.

Foxy is just upset because his beloved Carrington will be consigned to a back up role and he clearly hates full backs who attack and create. The fact Rutherford is also rated by him for merely running around and achieving fck all tells me to take his opinions on footballing ability with a huge pinch of salt.
