And less experienced boards, going by your assumption, are making ones like appointing Justin Edinburgh, or Tim flowers.....
Tim flowers who lasted 9 games at Stafford rangers before quitting without winning a senior game. How would he have been viewed if his next appointment would have been as Wrexham manager?
So, Now we're looking for a player with a brain, A successful manager and an ex Director(who probably knows nothing about football).

Man U have Sir Alex and Bobby Charlton but the football decisions are made by Woodward.
Glad you mentioned him, he's being hounded every day by Man United fans who aren't happy. They see his constant meddling and mismanagement and poor selection of managers as a reason for the clubs drastic demise. That's despite attendances still being health, record profits etc.

The other two are little more than advisors in honorary roles, they've no power.

Pundits are now calling him out on it, managers have had little nice to say about him. This is a man who undermined the managers, giving rise to unhealthy player power, players not playing well because they weren't allowed oven chips.

Starting to see a pattern closer to home? Not playing well because of a ping pong table, accusations of meddling with players contracts, employing Darlington behind Wikins back allowing training to be chopped and changed depending on if the manager was hungover or not, dictating who's in backroom staff. But hey, it's the fans fault and the players.

Then again it's some fans fault.

What is Tim Flowers budget at Solihull the chairman must be putting in a million of his own money and more each year, please do not say they rent the car park out etc as that would not pay for Danny Wrights dinners

Fair point, but it was the right decision by Solihull.
Had an immediate response.

Using Man U as an example is a bit different too. They are privately owned, of course the owner is going to want to have the say. I thought our club was more of a group that makes the decisions, or is it just Spencer or John?

I like your posts usually QR but you just seem determined to discount the possibility that we can or should have more footballing knowledge on the board.
Surely the current board would welcome that extra experience, take the pressure off them a bit?
I would welcome any additional support for the board but old players rarely fit the bill, Ex Managers are EX for a reason unless they're over 65 and EX directors with football knowledge appear to me to be just as vulnerable as those we've got. We don't have one man dictating policy or making appointments which tends to slow processes but at least it's not a dictatorship.
The board have the ability to consult ex managers like Dixie, Flynn and Smith and have plenty of ex footballers around.
Repercussions from the Bolton and Bury fiascos' may well make life under trust ownership more acceptable long term. I'd welcome extra financial support but not at any price.

Still got to manage and choose the players. We know from history that better paid players aren't always team players. Money makes it easier but the manager still needs to do it where it counts.

Flowers was handed the managers job following his time as an assistant. He did a decent job and was rewarded for it.
The chance of him or Challinor coming here with a limited budget as opposed to an open check book as somewhat remote.

The best players get paid the most money. Simple as that. We can all pretend bringing in players from the league below will bring success. In reality the odd player may come good.

It’s no good relying on cheap punts and expecting promotion.

So basically it's an admission we can't attract the more experienced or bigger name managers due to our budget restrictions. Hughes appointment makes sense now rather than him being the best candidate for the job.

I can see why the board wouldn't tell the truth on this one then.....
