I'm confident we have the players for a good go at the title (minus Mcintosh, Barnum-Bobb) but we are tactically miles off. Notts County away should have been a wake up call: we were overran in midfield time and time again, and yet today we persisted with Redmond as a floating attacking midfielder and started Barton and Wright who have barely had any game time. And why does Hughes think that a good attack necessitates a leaky defence? Leyton Orient last season were a good example of how to balance the two.

It all feels quite similar to Tranmere in 2016/17: quality squad on paper, high expectations, and the great crux of the problem, Gary Brabin as manager. Inevitably when he was sacked, and they brought in Mellon, they ran Lincoln close to the title. How long do we give Hughes before we bring in someone better equipped to utilise the talented players at our disposal?

Good post but our current football board would appoint Brabin next.

Get rid of Hughes would be a start.
