Have a look at Jim Gannons post match interview on you tube. Obviously easier because they won but he is a proper Manager. Wish he was here!

Default Re: Video - Bryan Hughes speaks after Stockport

Just watched both our videos and the first few minutes of Jim Gannon.

BH was pissed off with the ref’s performance, and deservedly so. I too thought the ball had crossed the line — need to see the replay to confirm — but also agree about the missed handball, and the debatable foul that led to their goal.

SP is right in that we are not getting enough players into the box to keep the pressure on them. I think our overcomplicated formation does not help, in that the lone striker is too often isolated, hence a good reason to revert to a simple 4-4-2 and have 2 strikers working off each other.

SP was also right about Dibble’s costly error: shit happens, and you just have to get on with it. But their quick second goal — after our inability to clear the ball — made life very difficult. However, I saw no sign of us giving up. On the contrary, we continued to press them but were restricted to mostly long-range efforts until Tollitt came on and the ineffective Oswell went off.

SP also said the players would pick themselves up and go again on Tuesday. They will have to because Maidenhead are another team in form. However, how many fans will make the same effort?

What can we learn from yesterday’s bitterly disappointing defeat and those 2 interviews?

1. Don’t concede stupid goals because the opposition just park the bus and make life very difficult.

2. Don’t gift them silly free-kicks in dangerous positions because we are currently weak at defending set pieces.

3. Get the ball and bodies into their box and score early. That changes their game plan to our advantage.

4. Don’t give up, because if you do, it is all over.

5. Simplify the formation (4-4-2) and start Tollitt or bring him on at half-time if his fitness is still not 100%. Only he and Harris have the ability to beat defenders near the box.

6. Sort out the midfield by bringing in a good quality player.

In summary, a bloody awful start to the season. If we are to improve we must make changes; but I disagree with the growing clamour to get rid of BH. He needs more time before a valid judgement can be made, rather than the mob’s immediate reaction to events. But the clock is ticking, and this malaise cannot be allowed to fester and worsen. Everyone at WREXHAM FC needs to stand up to the plate if we are to reverse the drift and get back into contention. More goals are needed, and fewer mistakes in the midfield and defence.

The required improvement is possible, but it cannot be guaranteed by my waffle on here. That is down to the management’s preparation, players’ performances and fans’ positive support. Starting again on Tuesday!

He is an experienced manager who is doing very well at present with a limited squad.

It is always easier after you have won!

Yes players he signed aren't good enough but lots on here said we have a better squad....

Also players he has not signed are also not good enough.

I haven't phrased that correctly sorry JND. Some of the players he has signed aren't good enough and agree with you about the 2nd point. JBB and Mackintosh are poor signings, Rutherford should have been released as well as Oswell being moved on. We do have some better quality players but they aren't putting a shift in and unfortunately as much as I think Percey Sudgen talks a load of rubbish about things, he is correct with one major claim he keeps making.

What we need is to get a reliable goalkeeper who command his area in on loan.

Then get back to basics of what we were successful with last season and that's defending get rid of barnyard Bobb on loan and get another proper fullback in on loan.

Second half yesterday nobody can fault the effort put in but we're lack composure infront of goal especially Grant who I thought worked hard and had a good game.

We need a partnership upfront one man striker is no good it's not the premiership.

But Hughes deserves more time to turn it around where is his assistant the midget man Flynn?

Maybe I'm reading too much into Pearson's interview but I would say from that BH had lost the dressing room, the comments about possession meaning nothing, it being a men's league and pretty football not being enough.

I was never that unhappy with scrappy 1-0 wins and that's what we need to get back to. We would need a much bigger budget for players if we were to play attractive and successful football in this league. We need to play the cards we are dealt better
