The signings directly from conference south continue to be mediocre at best.
But he only played Conference South for personal reasons. Before that he played at a higher level.

PS I agree Carrington is a better FB — on both flanks — but I would not dismiss JBB so quickly. There is a good player there if played further up the park.

Not going to happen.
That's also not counting those 14 clubs between us who also have to have the worst runs ever for us to suddenly 'catch up'.

I'm not saying it can't be done, but on seeing several games this season, its not looking likely. If anything, the only direction we will be heading is downwards unless something immediate is done.

What that something is, I don't know. It may be just as simple as put Barton in and keep a consistent 11 over the next few games (injuries/suspensions permitting).

But to say its too early to have a panic or concern (i'm not using meltdown, that's OTT) is a bit naïve.
We're still 12 points behind if we sack the manager and start yet again from scratch. My own opinion is that given time Hughes will turn it around. When we appointed him I had massive doubts and couldn't see any logic in it but can see what he is trying to do and don't think we're a million miles from being a very decent team. If we don't improve then obviously he will have to go.

At least we don't have to worry that our manager will be "poached' this seasonu

Have just watched the Stockport produced match highlights - they claim we had no less than 20 attempts on goal - all is not doom and gloom and 'at times' we played some decent football.

However, as stated on quite a few occasions in recent seasons, we seem to go to sleep for periods in a match - leading 0 - 2 at Boreham Wood and not being able to see a game out - one example.

Pearson touched upon it in his post match interview - we don't seem to be able to defend from set pieces at the moment and looked very vulnerable on Saturday. Their second goal shows two County players towards the back post with only JBB anywhere near them - he stuck with one and the other had a clear chance to head the ball back into the danger zone.

On reflection we had far, far more goal scoring opportunities than County but didn't have that decisive killer instinct that a proven goalscorer possesses to make all the difference whilst they benefited from a goalkeeping error and a very poorly defended free kick - granted it could have been worse at half time as we were second best throughout but far the better team throughout the second half.

I didn't say we had to sack him. Just that something needs to be done and soon. Too much chopping and changing will not help the team.
