Default Bryan Hughes Statistics

It's a boring Sunday night so I thought I'd look at some statistics:

This is the second worst start to the season at this stage that we've had since being in the conference:

19/20 = 9 points
18/19 = 17 points
17/18 = 15 points
16/17 = 12 points
15/16 = 10 points
14/15 = 13 points
13/14 = 8 points
12/13 = 17 points
11/12 = 18 points
10/11 = 10 points
09/10 = 10 points
08/09 = 11 points

Failure to win on Tuesday night would mean this season is the worst start we've had since we were relegated.

It's no secret our defence has been awful this season allegedly due to being more attacking but lets look at the numbers from our last three seasons after the same amount of games:

2019/20 Under Bryan Hughes:

Goals For: 11
Goals Against: 14
Clean Sheets: 1

2018/19 Under Sam Ricketts:

Goals For: 13
Goals Against: 4
Clean Sheets: 5

2017/18 Under Dean Keates:

Goals For: 8
Goals Against: 5
Clean Sheets: 4

2016/17 Under Gary Mills:

Goals For: 8
Goals Against: 10
Clean Sheets: 3

Even that notoriously bad second season under Mills with the likes of Kai Edwards and Hamza Bencheriff conceded less than this season

Hughes last 10 games his record is:

Won 3 - Drawn 3 - Lost 4

His record over the last 20 games is:

Won 8 - Drawn 3 - Lost 9

I would love to know what criteria Hughes' appointment was measured against when the board appointed him. Any person with an ounce of common sense would have binned his CV before they even finished reading it.

I thought he should be given a fair chance - once appointed.

But your statement has probably hit the nail squarely on the head - how did he get ahead of the other applicants ? in fairness he comes across well in interview and can string a sentence together far better than Keates ever could - but it does make you question the criteria used to appoint a manager by the board - perhaps the better applicants are ignored in favour of a yes man with no experience who can easily be controlled and wont resist - just a thought. I am beginning to wonder the reasons why Keates, Ricketts and Barrow jumped ship - perhaps nobody who sets foot in the camp can put up with those higher up the chain - a bit like Bircham & Horne - something isn't right somewhere but is it necessarily Hughes ?

The 13/14 season we finished 17th in the end. Our lowest league finish since we got relegated into it.
