Umm it is, you mitigate the risks. Hiring someone who struggled doing the same job elsewhere. One who had a drink problem. Or hire the fella who has the correct demeanor, speaks eloquently, wants to drive up standards, can see where vast improvements can be made. Not hard is it?

Even after that it can still go wrong, but it's less likely or certainly not as spectacularly. Like hiring someone who didn't want the job and then changed his mind, indecisiveness is no good either.

1 out of 4 ain't bad I suppose.

in Hughes case.. he was a footballer.. he knows the game.. he has played at different levels of football .. he knows the ins and outs "inside" a football club" so ofc id be more implied to suggest somebody with experience in the game has a similar or equal chance to succeed.


since we have been down here .. you could argue we have only had ONE experienced manager ... which was Mills.. of which i dont have to remind you how that went...


all the other Managers we have had since non-league have pretty much been new to management (with exception to Wilkin who was in a Part time Managers role prior to comming here) . some of those new managers done well.. some not so well... as said above.. its a risk.

That's not what you were getting at, your happy to hire managers doomed to fail with no mitigation of risks based on the premise of all managerial appointments are risks.

Basically another person who's trying and failing to make out it's not or never is the boards fault.

Still part of it has to come out, it will soon enough.

The other stopping potential investment dead, again, when feelers were put out unofficially. Very naughty and confirmed by others.

I got the Ricketts saga bang on, the stooges didn't like that and tried chasing me off in particular. Prehaps it was because I knew a lot of the details via Shrewsbury.

Was the same with Oswell first time round, they told us he didn't want to go full time by the stooges but off he went to Morecambe despite me knowing he did want to go full time. The backtracking started again.

The board knew alright, the whole bleeding saga's they knew, no ambition. That's why Ricketts left and I'd bet Keates did for the same reason.

I wouldn't be surprised if the interest from moneypenny has cooled over the last few weeks after what they've been through.

So, the potential investor put unofficial feelers out and was rebuffed yes?
If so, why was the approach not official if serious?

Yes, it was rebuffed before an official protocol like we have now existed and has apparently in the last 18 months. First approach pretty much confirmed by him, he got a lot of abuse on Twitter, kind of proved his point.

So they don't have people vehemently against investment making threats down the phone, camped in your front garden maybe?

Why go through the whole process if the general vibe at the top is no to investment? We all know a lot who vote do as the WST say. Having people who will do everything they can to make things difficult.

No idea on Dixies investor.

The vibe at the top regarding the CoE that I got is we're doing it our way, now f*ck off. So again why would people look to change things as we know some did try to and gave up and left.
