I very much doubt it.

It gives our small side some rest, time to recover from niggling injuries while others get to stretch their legs.
You can’t compare these 2 competitions at all.

Proceeding in this comp has already cost us what would be up there with one of our better crowds this season having to reply it on a weekday night and forfeiting the BT money, what is it 40-50k if we win the entire thing? Chicken feed and a waste of time. But if you want to be realistic it’s our only shot at silverware this season.

You seriously can't compare playing in this competition to a 3rd round tie at Old Trafford!
We didn't have the option to not play in this so we have to. If we win that's fair enough, wouldn't want the team to deliberately throw a game.
At the same time I won't lose any sleep over it if we get knocked out next round.
You can't predict the weather, so again you can't compare the games we miss in this cup to that. We might still be missing games AND get games postponed due to the weather. That adds to a backlog
Throw in the trophy games too and it just gets silly.
I can't help but feel that a prolonged run in this cup will have a detrimental effect financially and on the pitch.
It's only my opinion though.

As for tv revenue, how many times do people comment on here that the money from such games doesn’t cover lost ticket sales?
People on here must be careful of their backs with all the goalpost moving they do.
I was thinking about not that long ago games would regularly get postponed due to international call ups so why dont we just pretend that's what is happening with this cup and try and make the best if it.

With crowds plumetting and Chesterfields poor form the crowd won't be that great for a televised game.

really you think there will be a big crowd against Chesterfield do you? esp with it being on the BT TV who pay peanuts to show it.... who says they won't show it on a week night!

are we really in a position that we can turn our back on any revenue stream? I have a feeling we may need every penny we can get to finance some changes off the field!

back on topic one of the best refs we have had in a while I hope last weeks "ref" was watching taking notes...

There was a good crowd last season between us home and away. Just looked, bigger than any gate so far this season at over 7100

You say about turning back on revenue that’s what we will be doing! Guaranteed money for tv however little and a decent crowd vs maybe 40-50k IF we win the whole tournament.

Lots of people talk of games being postponed and having to play catch up, didn't the 1977-78 team win the league reach the quarter finals of the FA and league cups and win the Welsh cup. I know you can't compare the two teams, but professional footballers should be able to manage 2 games a week

And I'm sure they won another cup, Dagenham cup or something like that, not sure how many of the first team played in that though.
