Default Solihull Ratings

Dibble- 1- made one good save, awful punch for the 1st, completely missed the 3rd, needs dropping asap
Barnum-Bobb- 0- no good going forward, loses the ball constantly, don’t get me
started on his defending! Let his man waltz past for the second goal.
Jennings- 6 worked hard up and down
Pearson- 6- tried but exposed in this system
Lawlor-5- awful distribution
Carrington-6- didn’t do anything wrong being played out of position, needs to be playing rb
Young- 5-covered a lot of ground tried to get us playing
Summerfield-7- got on the ball created our better phases of play
Rutherford- 6- worked hard and won more headers than anyone else agaisnt giants
Grant-6- not a lot came off for him, was busy and scored
Oswell- 5 men against boys the centre halfs vs him, we insisted on hoofing it to him first half

subs
Hooper- 6- looks decent had an impact on their defence
Harris- 5- didn’t do anything

Fair assumption, I’d have probably given grant a 7, he seemed to be driving our comeback until dibble killed it.
I also think you rated Barnum Bobb too highly

Dibble 1 - Awful punch for first, should have saved second imo, we wont talk about the corner. Sczczepaniak simply cannot be any worse.
Jazzi 0 - Never play for us again. Summed up when we had a good counter, he was in acres of space, and plays it to their guys feet.
Pearson 6
Lawlor 5 - a much better defender than Chambers but his distribution was so so bad tonight, then again he had nothing to work with
Carrington 6 - did okay considering hes not a centre half
Young 4 - runs around a lot but doesnt do a great deal does he
Summerfield 6 - A lot better second half after being the invisible man first half. Actually looked to bring ball forward, which started the move for the goal
Oswell 1 - he’s my bet for the Grand National next year
Grant 3 - awful, lazy. Gets improved score for the tap in
Rutherford 6 - most Paul Rutherford performance ever

I am not Grant's biggest fan but he has now scored just one less than our top scorers for the whole of last season and in a team that's playing badly. I wasn't there so hesitate to ask but was he really that bad last night to merit just a 3? (Incidentally I thought he and Carrington were probably our better players at Aldershot but then got dropped for the next game. We really do seem to be in a mess.)

Never been a player of any repute myself , but i do often wonder how a player copes with being in then out of a team , not knowing where he stands one week to the next . A regular spot must be the best way to find form and produce a result . Big period now of games coming thick and fast , how it's handled is anyones guess .

The problem with Grant is that he never looks too bothered. Alright, he is no Luke Young when it comes to closing players down, but he never seems to give his all. When you have paid your £20 ticket to get in and fuel costs, you want to see effort firstly, then perhaps a performance where he contributes. He doesn’t do it for me. A 3 might be generous for last nights game.

But if grant scores regularly then he’s probably contributing more than some, or most

But clearly he still has to support the whole team, work hard and defend at times
