Re: Wycombe changing from 100% fans owned

Every pundit and fan commenting has said that we were dire during the first half on Saturday, but that we played very well in the second half, scoring four and conceding one.

We didn't have a new Board for the second half.
We didn't sack the manager at half time.
We didn't have a clear-out after 45 minutes.

By all accounts, including his own, the team was roasted at half time by the guy who is paid to get them to play to the best of their abilities and to win games.

Spot the logic there?

I don’t think anyone doubts that a manager can make a difference at half time, over a sustained period or even over a season or two. This thread is about the long term and how sustained progress can happen. There is very little evidence that fans ownership can deliver long term, whereas there is considerable evidence that other types of ownership can. Even the best advert for fans ownership, Wycombe , are now changing to avoid regression.

The last 8 years have shown us that "the guy who is paid to get them to play" can not be considered a safe bet to hang around long. The board structure however does. We are where we are for a reason.
What about Harrogate,Dover,Flyde,Sutton,Boreham wood,Eastleigh,Bromley and many more clubs in our league clubs which must be having over a million a season invested into the club just to compete with our 5000 crowds. Are they all going bust? Why are we just a mid table team Graham.
Harrogate, Fylde, BW and Bromley yeh.
Eastleigh’s money gone, Sutton was their cup money re-invested I believe.

Solihull have investors plus their car park money.
I think the Barrow owner is still putting a bit of money in.
I think Chorley must have some put in to reach this level as well.

Not sure on the others though. No-one has splashed the cash at all.
PG, I really admire your commitment to warning people of the evils of private ownership. It only we’d had you around to point them out when the Trust board were telling people to get behind Moss and Dickens, think how different things could have been!
The trust board had little choice in the matter.
The Administrator accepted the best bid which Moss and Dickens presented with a couple of million quid on the table loaned from Steve Morgan and a guarantee of being paid themselves.(1 million?)
Don't think the trust could muster that amount.
Unfortunately Administrators only think with their heads not hearts.

Solihull have a lot of investment just look at the squad, players we would just dream of signing, the car park makes them money but not the kind of money to pay Paul mcCallum 2500 a week.Barrow have got a decent squad which you do not put together on just crowds of 1200.If Chorley have had investment to reach this level what about Maidenhead etc. There has to be investment if not why is it that teams who get crowds of 1500 are more competitive than Wrexham.

Because we’re mismanaged. Poor appointments and not getting quality over quantity in the squad. How was BH the best man for the job in January. It’s a joke.

Teams down south that are Part Time then it’s difficult to compete with PT wages plus what they get paid which probably explains Maidenhead. Other teams using their budget better. Plus a better selection of players from higher up.
We’ve gone south but south of Scotland :) plus South of Wales and have 2 players that again are struggling off the bench.
Tollitt needs to improve and fight for a place.
Unfortunately Hooper has been injured and Oswell struggles as lone CF.

DK should improve things if he has budget available to change the squad otherwise it’s going to be a long relegation scrap especially as draw specialists.

Leeds, put it out there they were looking for investors, got 20 interested parties and then narrowed it down to three.
Amazing what can happen if you actually want something and don't just pretend and lie about it.

It is laughable to say we cannot find someone. It may take a while and effort but is achievable.

Many stating it is a fact either lack any knowledge whatsoever of how these things are done or know it can be but don't want it, Some are open about their motives for not wanting it others less so.
