Re: Chesterfield reaction
Not the greatest of games but 10 times more interesting and more action in the first ten minutes than last Tuesday night.
Horsefield looked decent, Chesterfield used long ball to Denton as their main outlet but also broke well from midfield as they had the space to do it. Flat back 4 was Ok but still a few hairy moments that we got away with in the first half. Barton did a decent job in front of the 4 and brought the ball out of defence only to feed it to Young and / Summerfield who then spent time going nowhere. Both were off the pace. Grant was the most lively attacker, Ruthers did a lot of running, sometimes useful. Harris, hardly involved. Pearson missed defensive header for the opening for Fondops goal. Fondop did literally nothing in the game but he did put his chance away well from a tight angle. Effectively 70% - 30% of the game to the home side. Second half started poorly and a triple substitution changed the game. Hooper caused the defence to drop further back and we had more of the ball in the middle of the park. Akil actually had a decent 30 minutes as did Redmond. Grant on target again, looking like someones bet is going south. Apart from the last gasp clearance from the skipper, we ended the game on top. If we can build on that we have a great chance of a 1st round tie. Numbers of Police and Stewards for 310 travelling fans was a bit OTT but they weren't over officious. |

At least he is showing some desire but it needs others to step up. The 1 odd goal per game isn’t enough to make a difference but thats not Grants fault.

Re: Chesterfield reaction
Agreed. Grant is one of those players who has a tendency to disappear in games but if his goal ratio holds up then I find it hard to justify not playing him.
