January situation as brief as I can remember:

Ricketts appointed manager
Ricketts persuaded Barrow to join him after a long period of trying
Barrow joined for 12 months
Barrow liked working with Sam Ricketts got the board to extend barrows contract to match his own contract length
Ricketts left -
The board approached 2 candidates in employment one Dennis Lawrence who accepted then received a better offer to stay where he was and choose that
The 2nd candidate wasn’t named because of confidentiality but was a NL manager high up in our division. Choose to stay where he was
Barrow had been in on the interview process
Barrow saw the quality of the other applicants cvs and told the board he believed he could do a better job
The board discussed it, at the time under his caretaker management performance were good Newport athome salford at home - made sense
All managers are given choice of staff barrow wanted newell
This Next bit was questioned:
Meet the manager was mid January both boards stated he didn’t ask to leave until 5/6 days later....this was challenged by someone in the audience who said he knew it was earlier as that’s what the board said.....the board refuted this and offered to show the emails between all parties to a neutral observer to prove it....they wouldn’t have done a meet the manager if they had known....this got debated etc
Barrow leaves, didn’t cost a penny to club
New manager appointment made Hughes....again he chooses his staff did t want newell so he was paid off (earlier in the night contract lengths and divorce settlement was discussed) so that club wouldn’t pay full remaining years up etc?
Hughes impressed in previous unrelated meeting and wouldn’t have got interview based on his cv alone
Out of those interviewed he came across the best and given job
He got 28 points from 15 games which everyone in the room agreed 2 points per game was a success
Hasn’t worked out this year lost his job

Wasn’t BH appointed to work alongside GB, as GB wanted to step down and go back, to being an assistant ?
He then changed his mind after the appointment and resigned.

Wasn’t mentioned last night? Above is all I can roughly remember what was said, I don’t recall Hughes working with barrow?

Bustas, good summary.
I think there are a couple of cover ups in there in that Barrow agreed on managers job knowing it could be announced he was moving back to assistant as he had worked with DL before. Thats why we could wheel him out for the meet the manager night. The dates on emails probably preplanned to support this. Call me a cynical old bugger.

Even on interview BH could not have been the best candidate- the others must have been very poor.

Very long winded but all backed up with dates / e mails ,etc.
I can’t give you those details because I could quite easily get dates wrong.
Perhaps someone else took precise notes and can clarify.

I think that was the original idea. FWIW.
