Default Alan fox resigns

Just had an email to advise that Alan fox the independent secretary to the WST board has resigned due to work commitments. Be interesting to see who takes over this role.

Default Thank you Alan Fox

Statement from the club this morning that WST secretary Alan Fox has stepped down due to additional work commitments.

He has been in post as the independent secretary for 7 years and it has been quite a busy period. I for one would like to thank him for his contribution to the WST and club - knowing that the role does take up ones personal time.

At the last WST members meeting, in response to a question. Alan wondered whether anyone out there actually read his minutes (said in jest ) The answer is Yes Alan many of us do and appreciate your efforts.

The WST are now seeking a replacement. Suppose the job description and time commitment will be made available soon for those who wish to apply to take on the role.

WAs it Alan who put the minutes together - just so you know (if you read this) - i regularly read the minutes as they give a good insight to how the two boards are running the club.

Thank you for all your hard work.

I am interested to understand the appointment process for this role. As the role is of an “Independent Secretary” I can’t imagine it is appointed directly by the Trust board due to the nature of requiring it to be Independent.
Is it directly elected by the members?

In my opinion It doesn't require a members vote. One would think an outline of the post will be published soon along with the likely time commitment. Applicants will probably meet a selection group from the WST board and someone suitable recommended to the WST board for ratification. (Just my thoughts)

This role used to be carried out by one of the board members themselves but 7 years ago it was decided to have someone independent of the board.

I would hope more detail re the post will be published soon.
