Re: Dagenham (A) Verdict
Those calling for change (me included) are going to be disappointed. Those running the club think they are doing a good job. While this attitude continues, there is no hope for the future. We are sleep walking towards relegation.

The already divided fanbase became even more divided. A lot of fans boycotting games meaning less income. Keates' appaling record of signings the vast majority were awful. Welcoming back someone that spat in the clubs face. When we need to bring everyone together to fight for survival don't hire someone that used to get booed at home even when we won such was the manner of the performances. Bringing back Andy Davies, possibly the most spectactular bottle job in our history. Seeing, under Bryan Hughes, how much inexperienced managers need a lot of help from experienced assistants, we let an inexperienced manager have a glorified PE teacher as an assistant. |

Re: Dagenham (A) Verdict
Not completely outclassed as Dagenham weren't much better and played some ok stuff at times. However when they scored their winner we gave up. No fight, no trying like mad to scrape something, putting chambers up top or anything unconventional to force something and take a risk. Tame, meek surrender and that's the most worrying thing. Keates and most of the players head down and no acknowledgement of the fans. Very worrying based on that.

Re: Dagenham (A) Verdict
If you were Dean Keates, your to do list just got a lot longer. Just start with the basics - we have no settled spine of the team, which is where every decent manager starts: Pearson was out for the second game in a row; Hooper had a whole 140 minutes back from injury before going off with what sounded like a bad injury; Lawlor is okay; nobody is that fussed about Barton; and we have no real play-making midfielder. Oh, Lainton's back, which is a real positive, but nowhere near enough on its own.
This is a very, very tough position. We need stronger center back cover if we are not going to suffer any time Pearson is out. I would be prepared to give Barton a chance with a better creative outlet, so top of the list is obviously (and has been for a long time) a creative midfielder. And at least two new strikers. And all of that is just to get enough points on the board to survive the season. But if Keates did not see that this was the position when he came back then I don't know what he was looking at ... |
