Default Aldershot and Sutton

Looking at the league table these look the only teams we can over take to avoid relegation. Would expect Fylde and Chesterfield to have to much financial clout not to pull away and steady mid table teams above them.

Two teams we couldn’t beat, worrying times indeed, the thought of playing in the NLN next season is so depressing.

It is October.

As many said last season, our position at this same stage was no guide as to where we would finish in the promotion race.

In case anyone has forgotten, we'd played 18, won 11, drawn 5, and lost 2, with 38 points.

This season, it is fair to say that no team has ever been relegated in October. There are 24 games left, and still 74 points to play for.

The season is far from over, but many RPs have already written us off, just as many felt that last season (in second place at this same stage) we were favourites to go up. How wrong could you have been then??? And how wrong you might be now?

So the optimists will feel that we have every chance of overtaking clubs above us in the remaining 28 matches.

Last season, we'd scored 24 goals. This season we've scored 21 in this league. If we can sort out our leaky defence, and continue scoring, we'll be far from the relegation zone come April.

There can't be many on here who haven't been told by parents and teachers not to talk themselves out of success. It is a fact that a positive attitude helps under all circumstances. Would we have succeeded though (as kids) if our parents and teachers had all told us that we were useless, a waste of oxygen - and so on?

If that really is the case, how can we reasonably expect our team players to respond positively to all the negative trash that comes their way both during matches and on forums like this or FB before the next game?

"Experts" call such negativity "self-fulfilling prophesies" - if you believe it then it will happen.

Take the top seven clubs in the league now, and take the bottom seven too. To quote an old saying, if the same 14 teams are in the same relative positions in April as they are today, I'll show my ar*e in Burton's window.

However, if the club does nothing to improve the quality on and off the park between now and April, you can be sure that the other 6 clubs around us will, and that could be the difference between a shocking first half to this season and an even worse second half.

The twelfth man has a cracking reputation for lifting our team. Let's make the right noises on and off the field from now on in order to give ourselves the best chance that we can as fans to help us up the league. I'm 100% sure that giving up now on the team we've supported through our lives is going to do absolutely nothing except shoot ourselves in the foot.

Yep, if only we had 'real' fans like all the other clubs and not this lot of do nothing losers.

You appear to acknowledge that unless changes are made -- we bring in better players and the team starts performing -- then we will be in the relegation fight all season, and then probably fail.

We can escape the drop and steadily go up the table -- we could yet even make the POs with a concerted effort -- but those changes need to happen now, not in January.

The Board must provide the resources, and DK must bring in better players and get them motivated and organized. If the team responds, the fans will respond. If the fans respond, the team will respond. But will the Board respond positively to the immediate issues and the longer term governance of the club?

Nothing in life worth having is easy. Rule No1: DON"T GIVE UP!

I agree. But at the moment there is no confidence in the team. Poor defending and not holding on for the win when scoring first in a game. If we carry on like we are at the moment we will be in the north.
