Default Cheap option

Why is anyone surprised at where we are in this league. When the board have been taking the easy and cheap option for a number of yesrs now.instead of quality signings playrrs from lower leagues had they of signed a decent striker last sseason or the season before we would have gone up.it was always going to happen if you can t go up then you go down eventually. Will they now spend the cash or not

Quality signings in January would probably have taken us up.
Oswell, Grant and then Stockton, Tollitt etc. on loan. All wasted money and the board should never have sanctioned these. Our strategy should be quality over quantity.

If this had been discussed with the manager then it would show him straying from the job remitt. It’s not dictating the actual players but the strategic element of the recruitment policy.

Agree with your principle but our real problem is midfield, until we bring in someone who can fill this position and start controlling games/giving our strikers decent balls to feet we ain't going nowhere.

January is never the month to suddenly discover quality strikers - at best you might land other clubs out of favour cast offs whilst also living within your spending means.
The aforementioned names all had decent records in leagues above our level - they didn't or haven't come good - perhaps that's down to the way we play our forwards and provide a supply to them - rather than down to individuals - lets face it every striker we have had in recent years has been ruined - if we still had Beck & Boden up front to this day I don't see all the replacements we have tried have been any better - it's just like a revolving door.

RL, it’s the principal I am talking about.
£50k for Rowe was a joke.
There were players at lower level that were better than we brought in and had sell on potential
Fat, unfit players was the cheap option as per the thread title. It showed a complete lack of strategy hidden behind the claiming the board don’t dictate players.

Plus Barrow should never have been allowed to spend the money if he didn’t want the job.

It’s always the cheap option, instead of 2 players of quality we buy/loan 5 average players. I said start of pre season this squad is poor on quality and mentally weak, there’s nothing we can do about it now unless Keates can surprise us with a couple of loan gems but my guess is he’ll be sacked by Christmas if our current form continues then we go hunting for another cheap option of a manager.

Hooper seems to be better, Grant has ability but poor application apart from Young the rest of the squad struggle to hit a barn door.
Poor mentality can only be to blame for late goals and conceding after scoring.
We have failed again with our choice when we needed a manager with ambition and desire.

There were some Twitter posts about investing the Ward money so let’s see if the board back DK. It has to be quality over quantity though or it’s more money wasted. Offload a few on loan to reduce the wage bill and bring in the players to fill the obvious gaps. I guess the same old excuses will be rolled out

.
people need to stop posting in hindsight..

Oswell came here from Morcombe and most fans although not overly excited.. thought he had potential to do what he done at newtown and stockport .. also a fair few on here saying he didnt get a chance at morcombe and their fans thoght he dont well when he did play

Grant ,, many was happy with this signing. and was shocked he had dropped down from higher league to play for us. even tho he had played in the legues above.. but due to fleetwood getting barton in and rumors they didnt get on. most was happy with this signing

Stockton & Tolit again bth came here with bags of potentil.. to the point everybpdy wanted Tollit back when he went back off his loan.

the fact that non of them have performed as we had hoped... doesnt show anthing bad towards the board or management .. its just people like yourself trying to create flames from nothing to fuel the fire of negativity.

you can post WITH hindsight and say they aint worked out.. or didnt perform for us at all ala stockton ... but say its the boards fault because they allowed the signings of good potntial and players who have done well prior or played at a higher level imo is stupid.

wont be long before you lot are slating the board for them signing Hooper ...
and will blame them for his injuries.

Dont accuse me of posting in hindsight.
I suggested players at the time that were better, I suggested players with potential, I have always advocated a quality over quantity position.
I stated Grant was the most disappointing signing we made.
Hmm. All in hindsight. I can see that now in hindsight.
