You started the lauding with your original comment. Whatever your views are, keep them to yourself if they are too personal (fair discussion exempt). This individual was a personal friend for over 30 years, whilst he will divide opinions (which I will not be going into) He was a fanatical fan who clocked up thousands of miles home and away following the team and should not have been brought into the discussion.

The spat over the secrecy regarding managerial appointments led to him resigning.
That was a shame as it's harder to change things from the outside.
Whilst it may surprise you, I'm all for dissenting voices on the board. It would ensure, to a degree, that decisions were more considered rather than "Nodded through"

You’re right about the need for dissenting voices, or at the very least, alternative views. I posted some time ago that this is one of the downsides of fan ownership.
Most board members will be longterm fans who will, by their very nature be well known to each other if not friends.

They will therefore be less inclined to disagree and risk falling out and the club ends up with a tendency towards safe and bland decisions when decisiveness is needed.

Time for new and independent voices, some departures, some retention and a reinvigorated leadership elected to fixed term appointments.
